I was just looking at NBA.com player profile, specifically Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett and Allen Iverson. These three were my favorite players ever since I was five. Now with LeBron, Gilbert and D-Wade playing, they have been pushed back but still have a special place in my heart. I then started thinking about my first NBA Finals- 1997, Bulls-Jazz. MJ's push-off shot is burned into my brain. My first Super Bowl was also in 1997, and John Elway's run when he got spun around in the air remains my favorite moment. The first World Series that I viewed was in 1999. I think everyone remembers Bob Costas' call in Game 3: "Swing and a drive to left. It's deep! Very deep!" The 1998 World Cup was the first time I even saw soccer. I still cheer for France's soccer because of that. My first NASCAR race, as some people may recall from an earlier blog, was earlier this year, the AQUOS 500 won by Jimmie Johnson. My first Ohio State-Michigan game was in 1998, the year John Cooper finally beat scUM. The first Final Four was in 1999, when UConn won. Along with Kansas, UNC, Indiana and of course Ohio State, they are on of the college hoops teams I cheer for. I was hoping people would leave comments about their first big sports events, favorite players as a child, etc.
