... at least statistically, the Florida Marlins, with 151 runs scored through 27 games (games of May 2). More runs than anyone else - more than the Yankees, or the Red Sox, or the Mets, or the Braves.
151 runs in 27 games is about 5.6 runs per game, which is on a pace for 906 at the end of the season. Scoring 900 runs in one season is quite an accomplishment - sometimes one or more teams will do that, but sometimes no team will score that many.
This is just a huge surprise to me, to see the Marlins scoring like this. In 2006, as well as they played at times, they ended up scoring 758 runs (4.7 per game). Hanley Ramirez has scored a ridiculous 26 runs in 24 games. Seven Marlins have at least 3 homers already.
On the other hand, their vaunted young pitching staff has allowed 149 runs in the same games, leaving the Fish with a pedestrian 13-14 record. You still have to get the other guys out.
I guess a regression to the mean is coming for both the hitters (down) and the pitchers (up), which would tend to leave Florida struggling for a winning season. But if you love to watch players cross the plate, they're your team right now.

Florida pitching used to be much better till they lost all those guys to FA and money, etc. Florida's young guys are really producing, could be a force to challenge the braves and mets all year
