Since the Niners played Monday night I had the chance to watch our divisional foes take on the Saints. It was plain to see that the Rams had it in the gameplan to blitz early and often.  The stat book will not reflect the fact because the defense only sacked Brees once but did manage to intercept two passes.  I expect the Rams to bring the blitz against the Niners all day.  As the Niners have proven their inability to stop the blitz, especially guys coming unblocked off the edges(or the middle or the left or the right).

The Rams offensive woes seem to have been assuaged by the return of one Steven Jackson.  Jackson had a solid performance rushing for 77 yards on 22 carries.  Jackson proved valuable in the passing attack as he caught 5 passes for 24 yards and completed a touchdown pass to McMichael. When Jackson wasn't throwing the rock Marc Bulger was.  And throw he did.  Bulger lit up the Saint's secondary for just over 300 yards and no interceptions.  The Rams won putting up a season high 37 points against a mediocre Saints defense.

What worries me more than a 2-7 record is the fact
that the Saints got pressure on Bulger(4 sacks) and still lost.  This doesn't bode well for a team that has just 3 sacks in the last 5 games.

As a side note:

At least once in the last couple games the Niners have run a fake reverse on the kickoff.  They are clearly setting themselves up for an actual reverse.  Look for that to happen against the Rams.

Another thing. Trick plays are not something the Niners have been successful in defending against. In previous games the Niners have been burned on a flea flicker, and trickery by Pittsburgh left the Niners looking lost. The Rams will exploit this or at least try to.
