Will Roger Goodell make changes to the NFL playoff rules after a 7-9 team beat the defending Super Bowl champs? Every sport seeds division champs followed by the other eligible teams. But what happens when one division is so bad that a losing team gets to host a playoff game over a superior opponent?

This is what happened. New Orleans didn't win their division, so they were a wild card, & had to travel to the loudest stadium in the league. Yes, they should have won anyway, but the noise can be distracting.

So what do you do? Seed based on won-loss record regardless of standings? That would eliminate a losing team hosting a game over a better team, but is it fair. After all, Seattle did win their division. I know that the NHL seeds division winners first, then the other 5 teams are seeded on points regardless of division. I assume the NBA does the same. But this situation hasn't come up, at least not recently.

I don't think a team with that record should be in the playoffs, & I don't think college teams with 6-6 records should be in bowl games, but that's just me.

come on now, i think the playoff system is fair because of things like this. everyone thought it was ridiculous for seattle to make it cuz they were so bad, well they beat the defending Super Bowl champs. once the postseason starts, it is a whole new season and anything can happen, they should not touch the current system.
