Ok, we all saw it, Auburn won the BCS championship and are declared national champions in the BCS rankings. However I've always placed much more faith in the coaches poll rankings (in 2003 USC had the best team in the nation and was voted national champions by the coaches poll, however the BCS champion was a far inferior LSU team).
So how about a little love from the coaches for TCU. I was never much of a believer in TCU this season, (mainly because I didn't see any of their games and figured they lost to Boise State last year, with Boise State returning the same group of players again this year) but they showed their mettle against Wisconsin. Wisconsin came in having run the ball for huge yardage against all comers. Well, TCU showed even the best teams can't execute against their defense.
Watching Oregon and Auburn struggle against each other, even though neither team has a particularly strong defense (and Auburn's was extremely weak during the season), made me wonder how either team would have fared against TCU's defense. That is an outcome we'll never know thanks to the messed up BCS system, but the coaches get to exercise their independent views of what might have been. If enough of them believe TCU would've stymied Auburn then they ought to give their championship vote to TCU. After all, the vote is supposed to be for the best team. TCU at least needs to be considered in that debate.
