I'm not a Celtics fan, but right now what they're doing is amazing. Right now they're undefeated and crushing every opponent in their path. They have the best lineup in the NBA with just three guys, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett. With those three guys out there, I could put any two other guys on the starting 5, and they still would win. I'm going to dissect their BIG 3.
Kevin Garnett: One of the best post players in the NBA, and what makes him so effective is the fact that he can play dominant post play, and he can hit the outside jump-shot with consistency. Imagine if Dirk Nowitzki developed a better inside prescence, and you would have Garnett (but Nowitzki is a better shooter). Garnett for a big man can also run the floor extremely well, and is in better shape than most big men (Shaq). Him and Tim Duncan form the best PF/C in the NBA.
Ray Allen: The shooter of the team, while Garnett requires inside prescence, Ray Allen forces defenses to play outside as well, because of his amazing shooting range. Of course he isn't a Kobe Bryant type of scorer, but he's a great shooter, he reminds me a lot of Reggie Miller.
Paul Pierce: Maybe the key to the offense, because while Garnett plays low, and Allen playes outside, Pierce can shoot, penetrate and score in the paint. There isn't much else to say other than he is an All-Star caliber player who is great at every aspect of the game.
This team when it's all said and done, may be the best team to ever have played in the NBA, yes even better than Jordan's Bulls. The Bulls had MJ, Pippen, and Rodman. The Celtics don't have as good a player as Jordan, but an overall better spread of talent with Garnett, Allen, and Peirce. Of course I'm saying a lot this early in the year, but this team is looking dominant.
