Shame on the Baseball Owners and Managers and anyone who believes that this situation isn't on their shoulders. They should be the ones on trial here. The owners and managers have participated in this for decades and enjoyed the wealth generated by these athletes. They provided them with whatever "tools" of the trade would enhance their game, performance, and increase their ticket sales and Vegas take home.
Barry Bonds was always an EASY target. He wasn't the "make nice for the camera men and sports casters" guy. He was easily demonized and while everyone was burying him, countless other players continued to do what has ALWAYS been done in professional sports, performing at whatever cost.
This is about performing - entertaining everyone. We pay ticket pricing and buy t-shirts to be ENTERTAINED.
I am sick of hearing about whether Barry Bonds should or shouldn't play, whether he lied or not. He and countless of the great athletes in our time don't require our respect or admiration. What they do deserve is the right to make whatever choices they want to enable them to do the job they are being paid for, and make whatever they can make from owners who make 1000X that on their backs.
Barry Bonds should play till he chooses he has completed his journey - not have this witch hunt end his career.
Remember everyone this part of your entertainment dollar.
I invite ANYONE to take ANYTHING, grab a bat, then attempt to hit a 95mph fastball. 99.999% of people couldn't even see the ball let alone connect with it. The hand eye coordination associated with hitting a baseball just doesn't come about from taking something. Let's go ahead and create that line in Cooperstown and every MLB baseball park in America. I'd be happy to put money on the percentage of people who could connect, let alone hit it over the fence.
If you think he or any other professional athlete isn't the role model you thought, then don't patratronize sports at all. Have your kids concentrate solely on academics, and do a better job yourself at home so that YOU are their role model.
And finally, shame on everyone who believes this topic is more important than our American sons and daughters dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. Perhaps if you spent 1/10th of your time reading and considering how this truly impacts your life, verses the time you are spending bitching about Barry Bonds we would all be better off.
