Item: Dennis Dixon tears his ACL and is out for the season.
This pretty much....no wait...This ends all hope of the Ducks making it to the BCS. They will completely crumble without their Heisman candidate under center, and I would be surprised if they beat both UCLA and Oregon State. Dennis Dixon was their entire offense, and I don't think that Jonathan Stewart can shoulder that whole load and keep them in games, especially with their defense.
Now this game opens up a bushel of scenarios to the BCS National Championship. It is entirely possible that Ohio State still gets in. For that to happen, LSU and WVU would need to lose, and then OSU would play the Big XII winner in the NC. Wow. Also, this opens the door for West Virginia, who could leapfrog Mizzou and Oklahoma, possbly, to get into that game. My favorite scenario is LSU losing to Arkansas or in the SEC Championship, while Kansas wins out to play West Viriginia in the Title Game. I don't think anyone could've seen that coming 3 months ago.
Item: Barry Bonds gets Indicted on Perjury and Obstruction of Justice charges by a Federal Grand Jury.
This probably should've been the first item, but I wanted to talk about NCAA football first. OK, so, I think that I am in a gigantic minority on this topic, because I believe that indictment does not imply guilt, so I think people should stop acting like he's guilty. Our country's whole justice system is based on a person's being innocent until proven guilty. Why is it the opposite with major pop culture figures? Michael Vick, he was guilty in the eyes of the public when the charges came down. Yes, he ended up guilty, but before a trial, you can't just assume someone is guilty. Remember, you are getting a MEDIA BIAS! The information that is given to you by ESPN or NBC, ABC, CBS is not always exactly true. They tell you what they believe, what they want you to believe. Don't be too quick to judge somebody based on a media opinion. So, I will not say anything about Barry being a cheater until something happens that LEGITIMATELY proves his guilt.
Item: Rex Grossman enters the Bears game against the Raiders, throws game-winning TD pass.
HA! Five bucks says you will never see that again.
Item: Glen Mason is a favorite of Tom Osborne, may replace Bill Callahan at Nebraska.
First off, this is entirely speculation, and when I read this in the Pioneer Press this morning, I almost threw up. Mason is notorious in Minnesota for only being able to recruit on offense. He did recruit Laurence Maroney and Marion Barber. He has had some good individual defensive players, but the defenses he's had as a whole were never that good. My past, present, and future point of reference, the 2006 Insight Bowl, which was the reason he got fired. How in the hell do you blow a 31 point lead in TWO quarters? I think that this would be a huge mistake for the Huskers, and their defensive traditions.
Item: Herschel Walker wants to fight Steve Spurrier.
I would pay so much to see that...
Thank you for your time....

You're in the correct minority when you say the indictment doesn't imply guilt, I'm not pre-law or anything like that but I know people who are so I had it explained to me. The Court of Public Opinion always comes to a quick judgement, whether it fair or not.
Secondly, Glen Mason to Nebraska, not a great idea. This coming from a Badger fan's prospective, Mason's teams always played hard. I just dont think he can live up to the Nebraska expectations.

Barry Bonds will turn himself him though when he gets back from hunting in Colorado. That is what I heard on ESPN.

You are innocent until proven guilty...in a court of law. The court of public opinion is a different matter, especially when said public figure's fortune and fame are partially fueled by the public themselves.

It's horrible to think that not only are the Ducks chances down the drain, but this has to put at least a little bit of a dent in Dixon's hopes for a pro career.
As for Walker vs. Spurrier....make it PPV and label it "Too Much Pride" Fighting. ;)

I had never heard of Dennis Dixon until the Ducks rose in the ranks. Admittedly, I don't watch much college football. With that said, I was sorry to hear he tore his ACL. What I did see of him showed he is a great talent. I agree with you about Bonds. They were going to get him no matter what. He is being perceived as guilty and frankly, I don't care if he is or isn't. I love him as a baseball player and particularly a homerun hitter. As I feel with all athletes; what they do off the field or court has no bearing on their on the field/court accomplishments. The use of steriods does not bother me one bit. Denying using them isn't cool but hey, at least use a plausible denial.
