Not real sure where I red this so no real facts to back it up.  Looked and couldn.t find the article but Hendricks has 3 pit crews to split between the 48 & 88.  So each team has a pit crew and there is one on reserve for either team to use or pull from.

Do you think this is right?  Is this fair to underfunded teams?

I dont think its a matter of fairness. A good portion of the so called "underfunded" teams dont even employ a real pit crew but just dress up a couple people for nascar rules, as they intent to park it as soon as the first set of tires starts to wear anyway.

can all teams afford strength and agility coaches for the pit crews like roush, HMS, JGR etc? Probably not.

Can the Cubs afford A-rod? or want to? if he was a free agent?

I get your point, but I want a thinner NASCAR rule book, not thicker.

Nascar can make rules or take rules away. The bottom line is, " it ain't the Nascar of yesteryear " It has gone the way of all spectator sports, " if you have more marbles than the other guy, you usually win "

Well I think this goes back to the "Independent Contractor" status of the teams.

NASCAR can control the teams from Friday to Sunday, how the cars should be made, how many people are allowed at the track, the safety equipment they should be using, etc. But what happens from Monday to Thursday NASCAR has no control over. As long as HMS has all the I's dotted and the T's crossed at the track that's all that matters.

The question of "Is it right" becomes one of moral standing. Apparently Hendrick thinks it is right because he's doing it. Like what was stated earlier the underfunded teams are bringing the bare minimum to make the race, which can be considered wrong by some people because they are taking up spots some team who plans to race every lap could/should have.

Good Day Gentelmen, I have to agree with each of you in your own ways, Nascar isn't about fairness anymore, it's what the head creep says and thats all there is to it, oh and how much $$$$ it will be for the France family, 22GA said it best, the rich get richer.

The only good I see in this is 6 more guys have jobs that probably didn't before. My other question is why this is good for the 48-88 and the 24 -5 don't have the same.

February 3, 2011  02:55 PM ET

Of course it's "fair". Run a successful organization, and you'll be able to have a few extra perks here and there. Restricting the organizations from having extra crewmen in reserve like that seems a little like communism or socialism. Or is that what you truly want Comrade Manimal??

Although it would be kinda cool if there were a communist sponsored car, and we could call it "The Red Menace". Who would drive it?

Im sure there's an extra crew for them too, if not the extra crew if doe all 4 cars, they are just running out of the 48/88 garage.

Steve "Bumper Cars" Wallace. He may not subscribe the the Communist Manifesto or Ideology, but the "Menace" part would be from him wrecking around you as you try to pass!

I agree that it's more people with jobs. Especially after all the layoffs the last couple of years.

Not into communism, I'm just tired of seeing JJ win championships and see this as one more advantage that most of the other teams do not have. You could get Michael Schumacher to drive that car of yours, just have to talk him into comming over to Nascar. If he won't come there is always Jimmy Spencer. LOL

There is not much we can do about the teams having money using it.
What we can do is try and keep it above board as much as possible.
NASCAR got rid running on the tracks so the big teams came out with 4 post shakers which cost millions.
Personally I think it would be cheaper and fairer to all if NASCAR just brought out running around the track for testing.

article on nascar talking to Gibson at Stewart Haas. how eliminating the catch can man did NOT eliminate a job, but they now need another guy behind the wall instead

The #24 team of Gordon and #5 of Martin will work under a slightly different system, with six full-time crewmen for each car, and another four to share between them for depth / backup's.

You are correct, sir. I know that we will never go back to the day when certain drivers actually drove their race cars from race track to race track, but it seems like the COT and other attempts at "fairness for everyone" have put us in a position to where "innovation" is no longer allowed and single car teams are extinct. That is a shame.

"And the rich get richer"! Why would Nascar be any different. Was it "fair" when I had to leave the hospital with my biological parents and not the wealthy ones down the hall?

That happened to you too? I thought I was the only one that got stuck like that.
