I want to hate the Patriots, but I just can???t get there. They are not running up the score, but instead just good enough to keep drives alive. Tom Brady is the Joe Montana of his time. Bill Belichick is the Bill Walsh of his time, an innovator that few other coaches could out-smart. I have resigned myself to forgetting this NFL season. I mean, what is the point? The Pats, save an injury to Brady or an unforeseen departure by Belichick, look too good to be stopped this year. I would give Brett Favre a puncher???s chance against the Pats, but I really don???t think the Packers??? defenses can throw anything at the Patriots??? offense to really be any kind of roadblock to what is an inevitable championship. What the Pats have done is taken the parody out of the NFL for at least this season. Some analysts have pointed at New England???s dominance being good for the league, that it gives the NFL a great story and a team every other squad wants to beat. I don???t like this. I liked thinking any team could beat another in the playoffs. I like my teams beatable, not dominate. What is really left this season for the fans of the other 31 teams? It is possible the Pats will get to playoffs having already beaten the three other division winners and one of the wildcard teams in the AFC (Chargers, Steelers, Colts, and Browns), so why even watch? Yes, it is POSSIBLE one of these teams could beat the Pats with a perfect game, but, honestly, what team in the AFC, if any, has a realistic shot of going up to New England in January and winning? I enjoy the following the NFL because usually anything can happen, but only one thing can happen this year. I am sure I am being overly pessimistic about this because my team just got absolutely humiliated on Sunday Night Football, but the worst part was I knew there was no chance for the Bills to win that game. Finally, how can a team be good for the NFL when its games are boring TV after the first 10 minutes? Sincerely, Bummed in Buffalo.

Wow, I'm really sorry you had to be a Bills fan Sunday Night

Hey dont blow your NFL fancard-The Colts were 13-0 and the #1 seed two years ago and lost in the divisional game at home to the Steelers. The Pats still need to win a game that matters- multiple playoff games. Did you forget the Colts dominated the PATS FOR THREE QUARTERS A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. Fickle fans have short memories.

November 19, 2007  08:47 PM ET

The Colts didn't "dominate" anyone for any period of time two weeks ago.

They played reasonably well, but each of their scoring opportunities was aided by a bogus call by their incompetent, but friendly pals in the white and black striped shirts. The Patriots, on the other hand, were stymied on offense more than once by erroneous calls. If the game were officiated by a professional crew, the game would not have been close. The presence of Marvin Harrison would not have made much difference.

Even despite all that help, the Colts didn't have enough to beat an obviously superior team. When it counted (and when the zebras finally ran out of flags on their behalf), it was the Colts who were dominated.

That's what your memory should tell you if you were paying attention, fickleness notwithstanding.

I'm a Pats fan and I'm positive that the Pats have the talent to go all the way, win the SB and finish undefeated. Unlike you tho I'm by no means sure it will happen. The Colts gave them all they could handle although the refs played a big part in helping the Colts stay close with some incredibly bad officiating.

But thats what can happen even to the best of teams... all it takes is a bad day at a bad time and the Patriots can lose as easy as anyone. Myself, I'm don't care if they lose during the regular season... I'm looking for a SB victory. For all the teams that make the playoffs, thats where the real season starts and where its one loss and your done.

The Patriots are unbeaten.. but they are not unbeatable. But any team that even starts to think like you do has already lost.

Leave it to a excuse maker to find the ref bad call card to explain away the huge Colt domination for three Qs before the Pats had to scramble for a THREE POINT WIN. Wow. Even the Chiefs stayed within three of the Colts.

November 19, 2007  09:07 PM ET

the final was 24-20

November 19, 2007  09:09 PM ET

A win is a win, and no excuses are needed for the margin of victory. Congrats to the Pats for beating the Colts and to the Colts for beating the Chiefs. It's another notch in the W column.

As for dominating 3 quarters, who cares whether it's true or not? The game is 60 minutes long, and the only thing that matters is the final score.

Not according to P&K. He thinks we should stop the season now and give the Pats the trophy today-typical overreactive fan. He will eat his shoe when another team is holding that trophy not from New England.

November 19, 2007  09:29 PM ET

I can't see why P&K would be upset at seeing the Pats let some other team hold their trophy after they win it, certainly not upset enough to eat his own footwear.

Again: Any "domination" by the Colts two weeks ago occurred exclusively in your imagination.

The Colts are an excellent team (even though they haven't played like it since the Pats game), but it's obvious to the most casual observer that they aren't in the Patriots class this year.

November 19, 2007  10:02 PM ET

Forget this year, it's over baby! What you Pats haters should figure out is whoo can beat them next year. With San Frans' pick and Belicheck and Piolii doing the choosing, your'e looking at a stupendous 38-0 as a definite possibility! Then you can all be sick!

WOW! Bostonsmitty I wish I had your enthusiasim, but I think your being a little overzealous in your prediction.
1st off, this reg season is still not over and yes the Pats look unstoppable.
Remember the Big Bull Little Bull senario? You know, Little bull wants to run down and get one and big bull wants to walk down and get em all?
I think talking about next year is getting a little carried away. Besides any given Sunday it could be anybodies game.

November 20, 2007  08:38 AM ET

Remember the Colts from 05. They were unstoppable too in the regular season, starting 13-0, but they didnt win a playoff game that year.

November 20, 2007  01:32 PM ET

Yeah , I remember, the Colts didn't have a defense that year. Too bad the Pats have a top 5 defense to go with their #1 offense.
