This year the new rule is that drivers can only gain points in one series. They also must declare before the season starts
Trevor Bayne is scheduled to run the full Nationwide series. Wood Brothers did not have the money to run Bayne in a full Cup series and was gonna run him roughly 17 races.
The fairy tale run happened and Bayne won the Daytona 500, which could very well mean that the Wood Brothers could have the money now to run a full season and Trevor is aloud to do so.
Here is the butts because he has already declared for the Nationwide series he can not collect points for Cup season. He can not run for rookie of the year because he can not collect points. There is a chance that Wood Brothers now have money that could mean a full season run but even if Trevor won the Cup season he can not be Cup Champ.
Is this a classic of oh well this team will fall threw the cracks?
Will NASCAR pony up and help this team which could become a contender for years to come or just let the team become another Start and Parker?
Or am I just plain off my rocker and rules are rules?
