I'd like to submit Trevor and his team for "not the bonehead". It looks like they made the right decision to stay in Nationwide. He'll be able to get good experience and run for Cup roockie of the year next year (depending on the # of Cup races he runs this year).

I agree its the right move, but is sounds like he will give up his eligibility if he runs the previously announced number of races for wood brothers.
SO WHAT! there's probably a little bit of money, a small trophy, and recognition at the awards ceremony. When you look at the DOLLARS available for any decent finish if he runs, lets say 20 races this year, he'll be way ahead kissing away competing for RotY
Just my opinion.. go for the championship in NW, go for hte bucks in cup. Treavor, you have a great opportunity to excel at both.

Your Right POND .... to keep eligibility for RoTY, Bayne could only run 7 races per NAPCAR rules, .... but he was schedule to run 17 races already for the the Wood Bros., so it was track time in CUP vs RoTY ... about the Only Bonus to winning RoTY now is that you can run in the BUD $hootout now!

off the subject did you see this ;)
The Izod IndyCar Series confirmed its 2011 season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with an enticing twist: A $5 million reward to any driver from another series who can win the race.
Final is Sunday, October 16th ..... hmm NASCAR is Saturday Night in Charlotte .....

Wonder if Robby or Smoke will enter. Maybe Juan Pablo...

But as a former Daytona 500 winner Bayne is already eligible for the $hootout.

the kid definitely has a decent head on his shoulders. Run for the NW title this year and move to Cup next year, at the earliest. Yes at 20 he has a Daytona 500 victory, but then again starting at Phoenix next week he might become another Sam Hornish. He is being railroaded as the Savior of NASCAR after 2 races, one a win and the other a mediocre finish for anyone else.

Maybe just some PR by the Rodeo Clown ;)
.... Up to five outside drivers can compete in the race if they're picked by a "selection committee" and qualify, then win the race outright to collect the $5 million.
... Star power and ability will be considered as the committee issues invitations
..... and there is a F1 race that weekend, so NO F1 drivers ...like I said NASCAR is in Charlotte .... so it would need to be a Driver out of the CHASE ...
.... Do not think Robby has "Star Power", maybe former CART Champ AJ Allmendinger
..... And Smoke & JPM have not drove an INDY car for Years
