I nominate Robby Gordon for Bonehead driver of the week.  Not for anything he did on the track, but for getting into a fight with Kevin Conway.  Conway drove a couple races for Robby last year and Robby now claims the Kevin owes him some money.  Robby has filed legal action against Kevin, but he couldn't leave it at that.  (Is anyone surprised?)  An eyewitness said that Robby grabbed Kevin by the shirt, shook him around then slammed him to the ground hit him once or twice and then stopped.  As a result Robby was placed on immediate and indefinite probation.  (What ever happened to have at it boys?)

For actions that most people outgrew in Junior High, I nominate Robby Gordon for Bonehead Driver of the Week.

I second your nomination!

Conway drove for Gordon in six races last year and they are involved in lawsuits with each other.
Gordon has sued Conway sponsor Extenze in California, while Conway has sued Gordon in North Carolina.

Gordon said Saturday that Conway is / was asking for $27,000 in money from winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie award from last year.

Gordon said Saturday that he would pay Conway once he gets the $690,000 from Extenze

Sounds to me, like Robby just blew his court case vs Conway .... Judge may take beating the **** out of Conway as Intimidation and court order to give Conway the Money ...

Sounds like more to come Robby vs Conway ... like another Lawsuit in Nevada

Robby should be in Bonehead hall of fame.

I might consider adding Kryle to the list, because of his NW smooth move into the grass then the wall after dominating all day. Even he called it a bonehead move!

Or if it is within the rules I nominate the guy who left the airhose under Stewart's car. Took Stewart out of the race after a dominating day.

Have not found a replay of the Stewart air hose .... was the pit crew or the Crew Chief who told Tony to Go Go Go before the crew member with the hose cleared the front of the car? ....

If I remember it was Right side tires only

March 7, 2011  04:05 PM ET

Would love to give some input but missed 85% of the race

March 7, 2011  06:23 PM ET

It looked like the crew didn't clear the air hose. But I can't be 100% sure.

I was thinking about the crew and/or crew chief that screwed up on Stewart's pit stop, but I was trying to keep the focus on drivers. Maybe we could give them a honorable (or dishonorable) mention. I didn't see much of the Nationwide race so I missed the Kryle (tm) move.

Kevin Conway released a statement Monday evening: "I don't mind stiff competition, but I want to make sure the hard facts are told. First and foremost, I love being a part of NASCAR and have worked very hard to earn the privilege of competing in the Sprint Cup Series. On Friday night, Robby Gordon, who has a long history of issues in NASCAR decided to ambush me in the garage area at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, completely unprovoked. Robby even confronted Joe Nemechek, my car owner, on pit road during Cup Series qualifying shoving him and telling him that he was looking for me and going to assault me. We have many witnesses including a crew chief that signed a police report documenting the truth of his physical attack on me. Situations like this are not good for our sport. It's one thing if we were racing each other and I wrecked him or he wrecked me, that's an entirely different situation. It's very unfortunate that he chose to physically attack me to address his rage. Our fans, sponsors and NASCAR expect and deserve more from our competitors than this bullish, illegal behavior that was displayed by Robby against me."

... Damn, I would try to get the police arrest Robby on Sunday just before the start of the race ... Sounds like it could be a "COPS" on FOX, ...lol

After reading this there is no doubt that Robby deserves the award.

Looks like we have a near consensus without a vote. I changed the site accordingly!
