Red Sox
Pitching Rotation:
1. Cy Young
2. Roger Clemens
3. Pedro Martinez
4. Smokey Joe Wood
5. Luis Tiant
Closer - Dick Radatz
Catcher - Jason Varitek
Designated Hitter - Ted Williams
First Base - David Ortiz (His bat more than makes up for his fielding)
Second Base - Bobby Doerr
Third Base - Larry Gardner
Shortstop - Joe Cronin
Left Field - Carl Yastrzemski (spelling?)
Centerfield - Reggie Smith
Right Field - Dwight Evans
So Close:
1. Tris Speaker (Centerfield) - Better base runner than Smith, but he wasn't as much of a five-tool player as Smith was.
2. Jim Rice (Left Field) - Great, great player. Especially when it comes to hitting, but Yaz was better all-around.
3. Wade Boggs (Third Base) - That celebration when he won the World Series with the Yankees gives me he chills.
4. Carlton Fisk (Catcher) - V-Tek and Fisk were both great players so when it came down to decide, Varitek's pitch calling and leadership gave him the spot.
5. Mo Vaughn (First Base) - David Ortiz just with less clutch playoff hits. Oh yeah, and no rings.
