Are you surprised with Paul this year or are you thinking he is a flash that has been racing long enough that even a blind squirrel finds the odd nut?

Did he have a start last year towards the end of the year and just starting to make a run at being a better contender?

Do you think he has the potential to make it in Cup racing now that he has found a team with better equipment?

As I have said before he has made a lot of the right moves in his career. Yes he is on his 4th team, but with the exception of the RPM hiccup toward the middle to end of last year he has been moving to better equipment. I also think he has matured as a driver, he lead at Bristol and has looked strong all year.

But I don't think he is a contender for the Cup yet. If put in Denny Hamlin's points position last year then Paul would crack under the pressure too. Given time and a chance to finally make it over those last few hurtles (winning, constancy, JJ) he will eventually hold at least one Championship.

Paul no longer with a lack of money / equipment team .... DEI, Yates, Petty-Yates last year which ran out of money, remember the story of Roush holding the cars (till the check cleared) ...

plus Paul, CC Slugger Labbe, from last year move over also from RPM with Paul .... same voice in his ear ...

I guess we will see if last year and this year fast start, was 9th in Points after 4 races last year, did start dropping till the 7 race, is for real .... or not ...

Paul Menard is doing significantly better, and RCR will help him with consistency. I think his double duty and all the seat time last year helped the learning curve.

Will he make the chase? I sincerely doubt it
Will he become a respectable member of the middle of the pack group, probably
will he get at least one win? perhaps but not this year
Will he be remembered in 10 years? probably not.

After all, Brian Keselowski made the Daytona 500 with a little brotherly assistance.

But Daytona is a completely different beast in itself, as can be witnessed by Brian K not making any other races he has attempted.

I've always thought he's a decent racer that's getting better. He just needs good equipment to succeed because he's not great, but he can get a good teams some good finishes.

I think I would actually enjoy, quite a bit, if Paul M beat JPM on a road coarse for a win!

Not surprised, he showed some talent last year. He was actually showing some skills now and then in the last two years. He certainly will have some good runs this year and the access to good equipment has a lot to do with this. A good driver can run well in a bad car but I think a so-so driver has to have a good car.

Being on a good team with top notch equipment will tell the tail this and next year...

And how many drivers STAYED with their team and won a championship lately? ;)

I think Paul was a good driver in mediocre equipments.....now he is a better driver in much better equipment.....he is a strong contender (so far) to make the Chase......but wins and Championships are very different things and he is not there yet.
I love the fact that he is with RCR and that combined with him doing better has made me a fan.

22GA..I will answer your question (#16) even though not directed at me....I like Richard Childress, and his drivers, and await the day that RCR is the dominent Team and knocks HMS out of the glory spot.

Why is that? What is it about RCR that attracts you.Do you recall when Richard Childress was one of the 36 or so that were in the race?

What is it about a guy nicknamed the rainbow warrior that attracts you?

I don't have to explain my fanhood to you, but I will.

No, I'm a bit too young to have seen Childress race, but he gave Dale Sr the ride that made Dale a household name.

I was a hue Dale Sr fan, and I've always liked RCR.

When Dale died, Kevin Harvick became my favorite driver.

I like RCR and Penske(I'm a Dodge man, so you don't question me about why I like them)
