Great Underground Empire Strikes Back

The purpose of the Featured Throwdown of the Week! (FTW!) is to pit two talented TDers with a common interest or theme against each other. In most cases these TDers wouldn't normally face each other but I'm going to act as a fight promoter to set up premier matchups.

This isn't a tournament. It isn't a league. This is simply setting up a premier, quality matchup each week.

Week 3 Recap

Sometimes matchups looks great on paper but do not live up to the hype.

That didn't happen.

Both matchups for the FTW went down to the wire: one tie and one vote difference, with a missed shot at the buzzer.  They were awesome.

FTW: Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky... SWITCHED AT BIRTH.

There was a great disturbance in the Force.  Master Yoda, of the Jedi Council, tracked down the elusive Sith, Darth Maul. They dueled to a standoff with double light-saber blades. FanNation was ultimately undecided in this fish-out-of-water hypothetical. Jordan's strength, power, and veristility might serve him well if he had been raised on the razors. Gretzky's quickness, ability to see the floor, and nose for the basket would have made him a dangerous threat with or without the ball.

One thing we know for sure, Great Ones comes in all shapes and sizes.

Awesome job by Yoda and Dart Maim. The Force was strong in both of you.

F.T.W. Top 10 Raiders QB's v/s Top 10 Panthers QB's 1996 thru 2010

In a Cat Fight, there are no rules. Why did I bother making them?

I came up with rules only to provide a set of guidlines for the participants to ignore and I kew that going in. The wackiness of the arguments was everything I had hoped for. The Raiders and Panthers have had some putrid QBs over the last 15 years, so naturally we should compare them.

DKMF offered a 10-way tie for number 1. LoveItHateIt offered the entire third argument and top 3 spots to the Fighting Blue Hen, Rich Gannon. Penn State's Greatest of All Time, Kerry Collins, made both lists - thanks!

In the end, DKMF squeaked by with the win. LoveItHateIt learned a valuable lesson: Vote early, vote often.

Great job to both of you on the highly entertaining Featured Throwdown of the Week.

Week 4 Preview

My apologies for not getting this one out there sooner. It took me a while to work out a great matchup worthy of the FTW but I think you will find it was worth the wait.

In honor of Opening Day, FTW 4 is featuring two huge baseball fans: Dyhard and (KMac) Go Angels. Both contestants bring in tremendous Throwdown experience and an in-depth baseball knowledge.

Gentlemen.. You are going to make me an offer I can't refuse.

Good Luck!

Rules

Gentlemen...

Topic in FM shortly, coordinate the start between you.

Lead the title with "FTW".

No rapid fire - you are a featured TD.

Dyhard starts.

With a very successful month out of the way, I'm now opening the FTW up to TDers that have already participated.

Suggestions for matchup and participants are still welcome. Bring a topic or opponent for the best chance of being featured.

We have one in the works for Wrasslin and I'm looking for some NFL Draft Gurus with Big Boards in their Big Brains.

I would like to see people on the leader board, face off against each other. Yoda and Maim was great. see if you can get some more of them to face off.I will whomp any of them ,at any time, on any subject, by the way.Yes I am that good.

Thanks, kitty. Great suggestion and I'll see what i can whip up.

Although your TD proved that non-leaderboard TD are just as entertaining.

Anything CBB related, put me down. I'll take on anyone.

Or, I will also TD anyone on anything. So...yeah.

against each other? I don't know. I am too afraid to click on either profile for fear that the loading of their TD's will slow the internet for everyone.
