I don't know what's in the drinking water at Pac 10(soon to be 12) HQ, but they want a TV deal that dwarfs all the others out there. The commissioner has said he wants a bigger deal than the SEC's $205 M contract with CBS & ESPN. Uh hello?
Industry sources think it will be Comcast or Fox Sports. They would create a Pac 12 network that would broadcast every sporting event held. But who would watch? They're also talking about football games on Thursday & Friday & basketball games throughout the week. Oh, & getting games on iPads & iPhones.
It sounds good on paper but why would a media source spend $200-300 million on the Pac 12? The only team anyone outside of here cares about is USC. It's not the SEC or the ACC. I just can't see this being a big deal. Yes getting every game broadcast sounds good, but how do you pay for it, even with a huge deal?
And every sport? You mean Lacrosse, Wrestling, Judo, etc. etc. I think someone saw dollar signs & forgot to use common sense. Yes the league needs money. That's why they tried to get Texas to come. That didn't work out & would have been stupid anyway. Don't think they're near the Pacific, but then again neither is Colorado which did join.
