My 5 yr old daughter and I had to drive to NH this weekend. We left Friday morning after Thanksgiving at my sisters house. It was strange not having Thanksgiving with my ex. But theres a reason he's my ex. Thats a blog for another day.

Anyway. I have sole custody of our daughter. We like to play a game when we have to do the 200 mile drive to our house in NH to move things out. We play counting games - she gets silver cars, I get red cars... you get the idea.

This mornings drives theme was "what or who do you like better".

Heres a summary - My questions to her.. and her answers

Peas or Corn -  Peas

Roast Beef or Lamb - lamb

Garlic mashed potaotoes or cheesy mashed - cheesy mashed

dorito's or carrots and ranch dressing - carrots won (finally, my mom-hood kicks in)

Peas or Green Beans - Green beans

PB&J or PB& Fluff - PB & Fluff

Varitek or Lowell - Varitek (damn - never saw that coming)

Tony Stewart or Dale Jr - Tony (damn again! , never saw that coming)

Manning or Brady - Manning.... I was driving thru the tunnel, I gasped, held my heart and squeaked, "are you serious?".. She said "Mom. I like Tom but REALLY.... you asked which one I thought was better. I LIKE Brady but I like Manning better. I said "You're 5, you know nothing.  To which she promptly asked me, Varitek or Lowell?? Of course I said Lowell. She told me I don't know anything.

So I tried to explain the 22 point spread with the patriots tonite and I asked her who she wanted to bet on. She asked me what we were betting on. I told her. if I win, I get to choose one of her darn MY little ponies (of which she has a million), and it goes "away". FOREVER.  If I lose, then she gets a NEW (Oh Lord Help me) My Little Pony.  I explained to her the point spread. Nah, she doesnt understand it.

She said it would be Eagles 20 and the Patriots 200. Here's how I know she doesnt understand point spreads....That kind of math is beyond a kindergartner. But, hey, 22 points? its alot. Im taking it. OK. I'm a bad mom. Taking 22 points against My Little Pony, but heres the thing, ya gotta teach them early. Now, I'm watching the Pats game, and g'dammit, the Eagles are winning! The EAGLES ! (No Offense to Philly fans).. But this is the EAGLES ! We should be lying down, "taking a tan (as my 5 yr old says)" and HITTEN SOMEONE" - says the 5 yr old). Now, she is fast asleep. I'm writing this, with my head in my hands saying " Oh man, HIT HIM. 

We shall see. The Patriots are playing like this is a Pop Warner game. The Eagles are putting pressure on Brady and fagetiboutit, Moss is covered like fleas on a camel (please dont email me and tell me you have camels that have fleas and I'm picking on you...I COULD have said so many other things.)

It started so well. Asante ran in with an Int and got a TD... YEAH ! No Lottle Pony YET !  Sadly everythng went to h-e double hockey sticks. Westrbrook ran and ran and ran. Gostowski missed a FG that pretty much I could have made (and Im a "GASP" girl.) Unless and Untill we can stop the running game and pressure n Brady, I'm gonna being buying d'amn ponies until February!

Maroney just ran in for a TD. Its still not 22 pts and I still owe someone a My Little Pony. You and I both know its not gonna be the 5 dollar pony, its gonna be the .. sigh.. 29.96 My Little Sunshine Pony....... we all know and we should all sympathize (as parents) with me...And win or lose, she's probably going to get that My Little Pony that she wants by Friday :-)

All of you parents know that I took the points but SHE didn't since she doesn't understand them. The pats won, her nintendo ds catz are fed and tomorrow, she gets a new pony.

I hate you Eagles ( not really, but I gotta save face)

Gonna be a LLLLLLLOOOONNGGGG ride when she gets off the school bus tomorrow ....

Today's lesson ? Never ever think you're smarter than a 5 year old !
