In an ESPN pre match interview PGA golfers Curtis Strange and Paul Azinger said that Tiger Woods better days have passed him.

A few moments later they both agreed that Tiger would still win mayors but he won't be the same player.

Fair enough, but it was strange hearing a couple of PGA pros openly criticize another fellow golfer, it reminded me of the perpetual "jumping on the pile "

As a long time sports fan I really don't recall a player in any sport taking a shot at another players ability to play a game, sure you may hear somebody say "so and so had a bad game" but not "so and so can't play or is a has been"

Agree?

In my opinion Mr. Strange and Mr. Azinger took an opportunity to deliver a cheap shots at Tiger on national TV.

Why? I can only guess is envy or just plain hatred or there is some kind of conflict between them and Tiger.

It is rather unusual to be that critical, the tone of voice, in my opinion, sounded deliberate and meant to hurt someone's feeling.

So in the spirit of fairness and the "al asifyouknow" tradition, I'm going put forth some facts about Mr. Curtis Strange and Paul Azinger playing careers.

I'm going to compare stats between Tiger, Azinger and Strange but to be fair I'm going to combine Azinger's and Strange's record vs Tiger Wood.

I think that's fair, don't you?

Paul Azinger has 12 PGA tour wins and 1 major win no green jacket.

Curtis Strange has 17 PGA tour wins and 2 majors no green jacket.

Tiger Woods has 71 (that's seventy-one) PGA tour wins and 14 majors and 4 (that's four) green jackets.

Lets do the totals:

Mr. Strange and Mr. Azinger combined have 29 PGA wins and 3 mayor wins and no green jacket.

Mr. Tiger Woods has....well I don't think we really need to go there, do we?

I didn't want to be mean or take a cheap shot at anyone, let the facts speak for themselves.

The best part of all this was that Tiger went out Sunday afternoon and played like a man, that is all fans can ask for.

To me those gentleman's opinion mean nothing, I'll wait to hear "Tiger's best days are over" from someone who's won oh lets say 71 events, a bunch of majors and a few green jackets only then I'll take that staement seriously. Just saying.

As always this is just my opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I thank God for that.

Enough said.

Hard not to believe that Tiger's best days are behind him. His back side fade was more telling than his front side charge.

Jack's record might be safe...

Again fair enough but I found it strange they handed out those hits...lol

Were those guys commentating for a network or were they asked by the media?

Also, from what I understand, Tiger didn't make too many friends on the PGA tour, (and that was before his indiscretions came to light). Arrogant and aloof are words I've heard to describe his demeanor. Not as hard (or strange) to take a shot at a guy like that. Especially after all his success. I imagine that many of Tiger's competitors weren't too displeased to witness his epic fall from grace that past couple of years.

Do you, by chance, have the stats for Zinger and Strange on how many women they cheated on their wives with? Might be more relevant than golf stats regarding how they and many others feel about Tiger..

April 11, 2011  07:38 PM ET

Commenting for espn........Even the bottom feeders on the tour have stated that Tigermenia has helped them make more money than they ever had...The guy took everybody to a higher level and made everybody more money, a player would have to be an idiot not to see that.lol

Here a shot Mr. Azinger gave Tiger in 2010.......

May 9 -- Tiger Woods can???t catch a break, as professional golfers joined other skeptical Twitterati in tweaking the tarnished icon for withdrawing from the final round of The Players Championship with a neck injury.

Swedish massage? ???Could this have been prevented with a good Swedish massage,??? PGA/Champions Tour pro Paul Azinger posted on his Twitter feed Sunday afternoon, obviously poking fun at Woods??? troubled marriage to his Swedish wife, Elin Nordegren.

Azinger was not alone in linking Tiger???s WD with his well-documented sex scandal.

LMAO..... good one! tiger will take hits from his competitors, announcers, heck everyone and he deserves it. as for zinger and strange being envious, hatred or whatever.... i think these guys just speak their minds. and most agree tiger's better days are way behind him. yes, these guys couldn't match records with tiger.... who can today? tiger was in a class by himself in his prime, but his prime was yrs ago. sure he will win again and probably another major or two, but he won't get jack's majors record and he will never be remembered as the type of man jack or arnie were when they played the game. those guys knew how to make the fans feel appreciated.... they knew how to respect the game.... something tiger never had.

Dallas I had no clue until I started to google these folks ...heck they have had some issues in the pass....yep envy is problably the reason...my point is if you played the game and you pound someone you better have the stats to back it up...in other words don't write a check that your mouth can't cash....the stats say they should just shut up....

This is really the first time you've heard an athlete criticize another's abilities?

If this gets you knickers in a knot, you should also familiarize yourself with Muhammad Ali, Charles Barkley, Mike Tyson, and Juan Pablo Montoya.

This was a shot .... Azinger also did the sweetish wife joke..look it up.....these are two has beens who never were and are green with envy ..sort of a punch drunk..lol

May 10, 2011  03:13 PM ET

don't think anyone is green with envy. these guys are going to comment on players all the time and tiger is going to get his fair share and more due to his pathetic ways. don't think it was a "pounding" either. again, it's their jobs to offer their views on various players. they have been there, played the game, felt the competition.... you and i have not been in their shoes and have not credibility to comment on matters like this. heck, most feel tiger is basically done.... nothing wrong with sharing your thoughts. now if tiger proves these guys wrong then they should acknowledge their mistakes, but that ain't gonna happen in tiger's case. just saying...

If you don't think they're qualified to give their EXPERT opinion, then you sir, are certainly not...
