I've been watching the WWe for a long time. And I've often wondered why black wrestlers have to jump through hoops in order to get anywhere. This past Monday on Raw, R-Truth was supposed to be in the Main Event for the up coming Extreme Rules pay-per-view. But was ousted in favor of John Morrison. It made me upset. Before that it was Wrestlemania where Booker T was celebrating with Stone Cold and drinking a beer. He caught a stunner from Ol' Stone Cold.

When Booker was World Heavyweight Champion he had to be King Boooooookah! Bobby Lashley had to battle Vince and Shane for the ECW World title. And he had to endure misery at their hands before he won the belt back. Only to be stripped of it and drafted to Raw, where he did nothing. Lashley finally left when he didn't get the money he felt he was due for his part in a hair vs. hair match at Wrestlemania 23.

I like John Morrison. And I thought it was a mistake for him to be put on Raw. He has potential to be big time. Same with Randy Orton. A guy with a lot of potential that is stuck playing the waiting game. I really can't say that about any of the black wrestlers. I like Kofi Kingston but there is something about him that doesn't have that ump. R-Truth is in the same boat. I thought Shelton Benjamin had a lot of talent. But he too fell by the way side. MVP asked to be let out of his contract because his character wasn't going anywhere.

The WWe is trying to push some of its younger talent. Guys like John Morrison, The Miz, and Alberto Del Rio. Mostly because of the age and retiring of older wrestlers. HHH, the Undertaker, Edge, and  Shawn Michaels have either called it quits. Or are reaching the end of the road with their careers. I really don't see the Miz as anything special. But they are putting him over right now. I thought after John Morrison lost the IC title to Rey Mysterio he would chase bigger game. He has just been set to the side.

Shamus is another guy I'm not that impressed with. He is a good bad guy. But when I see guys come in a leap frog others, I'm skeptical at best. Some guys you can see that Vince likes because they work hard. Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar were like that. I just find it hard to believe that there are no hard working black athletes in the WWe.

Good blog. I have to admit I do not watch wrestling nearly as much as I used to as a kid, but I also did root for the ones who looked like me. Sad, there aren't trying to promote black wrestlers more.

Thanks for commenting. I don't watch it as much as I used to either. They just don't have to personalities they used to. I don't know why it is that black wrestlers have not taken the next step. But it would be nice to see.
