The Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics are all doing really well. I'm happy for the city of Boston and their fans, but at what time will they realize they are just becoming more and more like their rivals in New York. For years during the Yankees dynasty, Bostonians hated New Yorkers for their arrogance and being stuck-up. The Yankees were the best, their fans knew it, and they wouldn't shut up about it. However, those same Yankees fans in the late 90's are looking very similar to Bostonian fans. Boston's fans are getting extremely conceited in their teams, acting very arrogant towards other fans and cities that once sympathized for Boston and their championship drought.
Im just saying that Bostonians are turning into those same fans they learned to hate growing up--New York fans. Are the Boston teams good? Yes. But they should remember where they came from and how much they hated listening to arrogant New York fans. Its now the same thing for other teams, but now you, the Bostonians, are the New York fans.
Im not a New York fan, or a Boston fan. Im a Houston fan. A very mediocure city for sports. And it does upset me when I see a city changes into what they once hated and despised. Im not asking for anything from Boston fans. Technically they have earned their right to be arrogant. But it gets old, and annoying. Not everyone idolizes the Patriots and their coach. And not everyone loves the once under-dog Red Sox. Bostons sports teams arent the greatest thing since sliced bread, so just get over yourselves.

First, let me say, that you write extremely well for a 17 year old.
Now, that being said, when exactly did Bostonians become arrogant? Was it when everytime the Sox played a playoff game no matter where it was, 1916 was chanted? In case you hadn't heard, the Red Sox are the number one draw in the country at any ball park. You go to a Red Sox-Orioles game, there are just as many Red Sox jerseys as there are Orioles. Ok bad example, Baltimore has a bad team right now. But anyway, the point is, Red Sox Nation encompasses much more than the Boston metropolitan region or New England in general.
The Patriots? Hell, can you blame the Pats fans for being a tad arrogant? When we play well, we're cheaters, when we play badly, we're the "Patsies". Spare me that one since at 17, you don't remember the humiliation of Super Bowl XX. Or for that matter game 6 against the Mets and Bill Buckner, or the playoff game and Bucky Dents HR.
As for the Celtics, even with a lousy team the last 20 years, they still sell the garden. You don't have scandals like the Knicks do and here's my last point, even when our teams are doing badly, we stand by them. There is no such thing as a bandwagon in Boston. Noone jumps on, noone jumps off.
Don't compare us to NY. Chicago maybe but not NY. Thats below the belt :-)
But that was a good blog... I would like to see you write more - just not about us Boston fans ok ?

I can blame any fan for being arrogant. It's as if we don't read on here that a team is dominating the rest of the division or league.
This is just like Cowboys fans who have the nerve to comment on every Throwdown or blog, regardless of the content, how great their team is doing, and oh, hey how's your team doing now?
It's one thing to tell the world your team is great. But it's also another to deny when your team or a player has done wrong. Belichick and the team was busted. Most healthy people are over it.
If someone's calling your team the Patsies, so what. There are haters wherever you go.
As for your complaint about the humiliation of SB XX, now you can relate to all the teams that get a beating when they take the field vs. the Pats this season.
Just remember though, what goes around comes around, and usually to bite you on the tukus.

Oso, lighten up on me here ! I started my rant with a compliment! ! !
I was over the spygate thing on Sept 20th. :-)
And just because Im curious, why is it when the Patriots score 40 points is a beating and running up the score but when another team like the Vikings or Colts or 'Boys do it, its a great offensive game?
Im not trying to pick a fight.. I'm just curious.
and I didnt complain about SB XX - I said it was a humiliation. Which it WAS. As a lifelong Patriots fan, I'll be the first to admit we never should have been there. We weren't even in the same school with the Bears let alone their class.
My point was, I don't think Boston fans are any more arrogant than any other teams fans.
We just happen to have more fans, ergo we seem more arrogant :-)

Thanks Kahder, I partailly attribute my article to the sports writers for ESPN, SI, etc. All of them worship Boston. If you ever listen to Jackie Mcmullin on around the horn she wont shut up about boston. I'll admit, i dont know a lot about boston's history and am not going to try to back that up, but I have noticed a change in ego from Bostonians--which I think a direct cause from the sports writers that priase them.

I don't really think it is Boston fans. I think it is a few Pats fans that talk so much that it seems like the whole New England area.
Every time I get on this site there is a Pats fan making fun of the Colts or Peyton Manning. The Colts are having a bad time this year regardless of their record.
I have received nasty e-mails when I have Dallas Clark as my Avatar and someone filling up my comments with patriots in all caps about 40 times. I don't have anything against the Pats, just the OBNOXIOUS FANS. Not all of their fans.

Any fan of any winning team is gonna come across as somewhat arrogant when they brag about their team. Its when you become an arse like Larry B and start saying we will beat anybody by 30 points+ the rest of the year that you cross over into Yankee territory.

Let me apologize if it sounded like I was flaming you. I know you're over the Spygate deal. I know I am.
It's the haters who have such bile in their stomach about the Pats who just can't let it go. They file it away right behind the Harrison HGH debacle and wait for more bad news.
I read about my team and how much everyone hates them and/or McNabb. It used to bug me. But there are a few things I learned about haters:
1) They only hate if you're good, or you were good. No one cares about the insignificant.
2) Haters will loathe and spill their malevolence any chance they get. So what? I say let 'em hate and act the fool.
3) I had a 3rd point, but it's one of those deals where you have a thought, it gets lonely, and leaves...LOL
Just to clarify, I don't hate the Pats or Pats fans. Not to use the old cliche' but one of my good friends on here is a Pats fan. LOL
But there are homer Bozos on here who annoy the living fertilizer out of me with their incessant nonsense. This goes for any Homers! LOL

Kp, The Colts have had a terrible defense for years. When your defense is that bad, you score whenever you can.
This year is different. 1/2 the offense has been injured. I am so grateful the defense is good. We would have looked like idiots at San Diego and against Kansas City.
I remember 2005 and 2006 Peyton came out of games we were winning by a 14+ points. Sometimes out back ups scored. Dungy is careful like that. Marvin usually came out too.
I have watched at least most of every game since they moved here.

First and foremost, Im a Patriot Fan (I feel like this should be a 12 step program) -
"Hello, my name is Debi and Im a New England Patriot Fan" LOL
Believe it or not, I happen to like the Colts. The only reason that Colts have a couple of losses is because they have had the worst luck with injuries.I loved the Raiders during the Lyle Alzado era AND I also at one time liked the Jets (back in the days of Gastineau). I was a Miami fan of the Killer B's and even though they destroyed us in SB XX I had a lot of respect for da'Bears. (Mostly for Mike Ditka) - If the Cubs are in the WS or playoffs, I root for them. Try as I can, I just cant bring myself to like the Chargers or the Rams. I like to think Im not an arrogant fan. I try not to badmouth any team because they don't deserve personal attacks. Critique the game, do the Mon AM QB thing etc but theres no room for personal attacks against someones preferences.
There are always going to be fans who are either obsessed or just crazy.....lol... Every team has them. I enjoy football purely because I LIKE the game. It just happens to be an added bonus that I am a Patriot fan :-) Like every other teams fan, I have suffered the humiliations and popped a cold one or two or ten, and popped a cold one during the triumphs. Either way, its a hangover waiting to happen :-)

Is it too early to give the Celts the NBA title? The Pats (who will win it all) the Lombardi Trophy or the Bruins (probably not!) the Stanley Cup? Sure the Boston teams are having great seasons but..., I don't believe its arrogance. It's been far too long since Boston has had four really competitive teams and I for one..., am happy for them! I love the Sox..., the Pats are the best team in the AFC and the Celts..., not a realy BBall fan but they really turned a corner this season. As for the Bruins..., time will tell right? Point is..., it's all right to be a little arrogant when your teams are doing well..., just don't go psycho you know?

Kev... go back in time. Like maybe last week. I don't care how big a fan you are of the Patriots, but you and I both know that in Boston, we hang on our seats, bite our nails and expect the worst. We just do. Its part of our lifestyle. The last few years between the Sox and the Pats have been incredible. But you're either lying to me, or not a true Boston fan or are much younger than me to "hope for the best, but expect the worst"
and deep down, way down, every Sox fan, every Pats fan, never ever goes into a game thinking its a gimme. The one thing I have learnt and dealt with with many heartbreaks is there is no sure thing.
Never.
