When you got up, got your coffee or whatever caffienated drink you drink, and turned on the TV, you heard about the death of Redskins S Sean Taylor. When the news first broke, everyone was stunned. It seemed like he'd make it the previous night, but no. He didn't. This is a tragedy and the NFL should not force the Skins to play against the Bills Sunday. Knowing how classy the Bills are, this is a possibility. To be honest, the NFL shouldn't play this week. Everyone who knew, or didn't know him had respect for him. He was on his way to a career year (42 tkls. 5 int. 1 forced fumble), definite Pro Bowler, and quite possibly a Hall of Fame career. He was just starting to turn his life around when this tragedy happened. He had a daughter born 18 months ago and he took her to the practice facilities often.

Another thing I would like to talk about are the other NFL players who died this past year and the irony of something.

Darrent Williams-Died January 1, 2007. Age 24.

Damien Nash-Died Februrary 23, 2007. Age 24.

Marquise Hill-Died May 28, 2007. Age 24.

Sean Taylor-Died November 27, 2007. Age 24.

Notice a trend. All 4 of them died at 24. Is this fluke or what? This is all sad but true.

A bit too much?...

That's a very strange pattern. Though I am very shocked about his death and I am sad for the 'Skins and the Taylor's, I think the NFL Week should go on as scheduled. The 'skins game could be delayed, but I think everyone else should play and have a memorial for him at halftime or something.

A bit of a stretch to cancel all games. If you think about it, it makes no sense at all. Name the one thing that Sean Taylor would want to be doing this Sunday. There's no way he would want everyone to hang up the cleats for a week. He would want them out there honoring him by doing what they all love. I know he will be in the minds of a lot of players this week, especially the Redskins, and it's going to be hard on them. But it's all part of the healing process.

I'm just glad the Redskins have someone there like Joe Gibbs who can help them all through this. Mark Schlereth made that same comment today about Gibbs and it makes perfect sense.
