1. Missouri

Lower:  Lost one to OU earlier in the year but they have a shot to avenge the loss this week in the Big 12 title game.

2. West Virginia

Higher:  They put up 66 points on top 25 Uconn last week and only have one loss.

Lower:  Loss is to South Florida which isn't the greatest loss but if they take care of business against Pitt, they will get a chance to prove themselves in the BCS title game.

3. Georgia

Higher:  The Bulldogs are playing as good as anyone in the nation as of right now.

Lower:  They didn't even win their division of the SEC....

4. Ohio State

Higher:  Only have one loss this year and played very well against arch rival Michigan.

Lower:  The Buckeyes haven't had the toughest schedule and they have a home loss to Illinois.

5. Virginia Tech

Higher:  Won at #16 Virginia last week and have been dominating opponents for the past 4 weeks.

Lower:  They have one of their two losses to BC and their other one was a blowout loss 48-7 against LSU earlier in the year.

6. Kansas

Higher:  The Jayhawks have only one loss but this is the only reason they should be higher...

Lower:  They just lost to the one really good team that they played this year and all their wins are over average at best competition.

7. LSU

Higher:  The Tigers have endured a tough schedule with only two losses both in multiple overtimes

Lower:  LSU still lost these games to Kentucky and Arkansas, the latter was a home game...

8. Oklahoma

Higher:  If the Sooners are healthy they are one of the best in the nation especially with Sam Bradford at the helm...

Lower:  The Sooners blew a game against Colorado and played terrible against Texas Tech without Bradford.

9. Hawaii

Higher:  Hawaii is undefeated and no matter who they have played that is impressive, especially this year...they just silenced many critics with a win over Boise State...

Lower:  They still have only played one top 25 team in Boise State and have struggled with some of the weak teams on their schedule.

10. USC

Higher:  Won by 20 points at Arizona State and look to be playing their best football yet this year...

Lower:  Loss to Stanford is inexcusable especially since it was a home game.

On the Verge:  Florida, BC, Illinois

LSU should still be #1 since they are the best team.

Am I the only one who thinks Oklahoma should be ahead of Kansas because OU beat Missouri and Kansas didn't?

November 28, 2007  10:15 PM ET

Yeah good call they have two losses I don't care how close they are...if they were the #1 team they have to win at least one of those close ones...

November 28, 2007  10:17 PM ET

But Kansas has one loss OU has two and Kansas's loss is much better than OU's...even though KU hasn't played anyone except Mizzou...plus comparing who wins what against the same team isn't very effective, it's all about head to head matchups....if OU wins this weekend they will be able to prove they are the better team....

BTW good analysis on the game coming up Sooner Girl....got a prediction?

November 28, 2007  10:36 PM ET

I've been defending the Jayhawks all season, but I was surprised the voters left Kansas so high given the complaints about their weak schedule and how ugly the loss was. I know the Jayhawks tried to make it close in the end, but for three quarters it wasn't even a game.

Prediction? No, not really. I give the edge to Missouri. It'd be nice to have a Big12 team in the title game.

I like Chase Daniel. However, Stoops seems to always rise to the challenge.

Incidently, the last game was full of turnovers, which could decide this one, too.

Nice top ten....only disagreement is Georgia and OSU. Just different philosophies. Whether Georgia is the best team right now or not, shouldn't matter. Not even convinced that close games with Vandy and Troy even count as playing the best ball.

As far as Mizzou and OU, the first game you could tell the nerves and pressure got to Mizzou. That Kansas games showed that they are feeling more comfortable in those type of games. I don't expect to see the same mistakes, plus their running back is heathly. Lose the Norman advantage and I see this very one sided.

why the heck is georgia number 3

Watch them play....if they would've played like this earlier in the year they would probably be number 1....
