One of my favorite wrestlers all time. Seriously. Randy brought his in-ring and microphone skills every time, like only great wrestlers do!..He was a very intense personality and rubbed off on the fans very well from the start. I'm saddened to hear of his death today at 58 years old.

Lets Look back the LEGEND's legacy, shall we?

Randy Poffo was a standout athlete in high school and was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals. Savage wasn't a bad baseball player. His career batting line was GOOD - .254/.293/.391 w/ 16 HR's in 289 games. But he would have been better if he had not gotten injured. In '1971 he posted a slugging percentage of .492 (in 63 at-bats), and he slugged .508 (in 61 at-bats) in '1973. He had some talent.(also played with Cincy Reds farm team) He played in the minor leagues for four years before injuries forced him to change careers and become a professional wrestler. -yahoo.com

In June 1985, Savage signed with Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation (WWF). One of Savage's first appearances was on Tuesday Night Titans, in which several established WWF managers (including Bobby Heenan, Jimmy Hart, and "Classy" Freddie Blassie) offered their services to Savage. He eventually declined their offers and chose Miss Elizabeth as his new manager -wiki

Macho was managed by two of the best ladies/divas in the sport's history.. Sensational Sherri and his real life wife(at one time)Ms. Elizabeth..R.I.P to them as well! Macho Man's best matchups are against Ricky the Dragon Steamboat, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Diamond Dallas Page, Jake the Snake, Ultimate Warrior, Honkey Tonk Man, and the polka dotted... pants wearing, Dusty Rhodes. * personal favorite machup n bold ha

Macho Man was a huge character who showed a lot of compassion, charisma, and was quite flamboyant. Macho Man was for the majority of his career a "face" wrestler. "Macho Man" was Randy's name mostly with Ms. Elizabeth too, both in nwo and early wwf. Randy Savage got his heel, "KING" title.... from defeating Hacksaw Jim Duggan in '89. Jim Duggan won the "KING" crown from newly nicknamed King Haku.. then inturn Duggan gave the "King" title and crown to Macho by losing to him.. There you have Macho "King" w/ new manager Sensational Sherri.

Randy Savage was an intrical part to the NWO Wolf Pack and the Nwo as a whole. Remember Macho was the guy Hogan leg dropped to turn HEEL @ Bash of the Beach?! Nwo was born.. Hollywood was born .. too sweet .. Macho and Hulk made a HUGE splash as the Mega Powers in the late 80's, both were at the tippy top of their prime, and they should be noted as the BEST collaboration of talent put together in ANY wrestling organization . ..Macho did pretty damn wel.l in WWF.. He did even better in WCW.. Macho won the heavyweight title 6 total times between the two companies. Macho as I-C champ, had a 14 month reign! Macho brought the intercontinental belt to RELEVANCE... Macho was a mainstay at "mainevent status", during his WHOLE stint as a professional.  .. You couldn't go wrong with Macho and you couldn't pass up on Macho. He had the "IT" in professional wrestling.

Hulk Hogan's post on facebook today...I'm completely devastated, after over 10 years of not talking with Randy, we've finally started to talk and communicate. He had so much life in his eyes & in his spirit, I just pray that he's happy and in a better place and we miss him. We miss him a lot. I feel horrible about the ten years of having no communication. This was a tough one. -HH

The" Rock" Dwayne Johnson said this below on Twitter. "RIP Randy 'Macho Man' Savage - you were one of my childhood inspirations and heros. Strength, love and prayers to the Savage/Poffo family". :

Slim Jim company...-"We're saddened by the loss. Randy was a beloved ambassador for the Slim Jim brand for many years and will be greatly missed."Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time."

Dusty Rhodes-"He was an iconic figure."

Kevin Nash- "I lost a close friend today. If anybody in heaven is wondering who the cat in the ugly cowboy hat is it's Randy. Love you Bro. Never another"

Roddy Piper-"To SAD TO TWEET.."

Iron Sheik- "randy savage my best brother, i love him and i am sad"

John Cena- "The untimely passing of Randy Savage is indeed tragic. All true fans of wrestling will mourn this loss. One of the all time greats."

STone Cold Steve Austin-"Just heard about Macho Man Randy Savage...unmatched intensity in the ring. A hellacious performer and terrific promo. A real bad ass. RIP."

Bret Hart-"He was so loved and respected by everyone, especially the ones that worked with him, I think we're all feeling a real deep sense of loss. He was such a good man and somebody that we all loved and cared about so much. Randy was a real one-of-a-kind guy."

Jerry the "King" Lawler- "Savage will always be a Hall of Famer, no matter what."

Randy Savage is one of the BEST performers in sport's entertainment history! He played a GREAT fan favorite as Macho Man and a GREAT heel as Macho King w/ sensational sherri.. Not too many wrestlers can be great at both, he played both fan favorite and heel to a T! Macho Man ran with the Big Dogs of the sport.. I couldn't tell you how many times i've seen Macho fight Ric Flair or Hulk Hogan, i lost count back in '95. lol Lets say Hogan never came on the scene, peep that scenerio, we could be talking about the Greatest Wrestler to EVer live passing away today! I feel obligated to give the guy his due.. Macho Man is easily a top 10 professional wrestler all-time.I give him a hair back from the 5th spot . Macho Man gave us countless memories in the ring , and quotes to say a lifetime.. "OH, YEAH!" He will be sorely missed and it's sad that he never got inducted to the Hall of Fame alive, and in the wwe.. Long Live Macho.. He's in the skies with Ms. Elizabeth.. doing his thang!!! R.I.P to one of the GREATEST EVER.. Professional Wrestling Illustrated has Randy Savage ranked  #9 of the top 500 singles wrestlers of the "PWI YEARS" in 2003. Randy was a 4x WCW Heavyweight champ, and a 2x WWF Heavyweight champ. Randy is arguably the biggest character in Wrestling History, givin his persona , and his in-ring skills. It's a sad day in the wrestling world. Savage entertained us all! Savage spent close to three decades in the ring, winning some 20 championships. He finally retired in 2004. What a legacy he's left behind!  Randy was in the 2002 blockbuster Spider Man as "Bone Saw". Macho Man's brother is/was the "Genius", who managed Curt Hennig for some time.. -pch

I don't know why it's in italics? ^ guess from the Hogan quote..

Wave your index finger in the sky. Hit a circular motion for macho!

 God Bless the Poffo family!

Great write up PCH. "Macho man" was a true wrestling legend and was instantly recognizable by anyone growing up in the 80's and early 90's. He was a one of a kind personality.

"Wave your index finger in the sky. Hit a circular motion for macho!"

Good call. Ohhh yeah!

Peach, Everytime I look back, you've added more details to the blog. Great job. The Slim-Jim connection was one of the best sport-marketing brand deals of all time.

I'm looking forward to seeing a series of Rasslin' TDs between Peach and recently-uncloseted mega-fan, Mr. Jolly.

R.I.P. Macho Man, my favorite wrestler growing up! I loved him on his first run as a heel and IC champ. I became a fan for life afer he crushed Ricky Steamboat's throat with the ring bell! Whoa!

Great blog entry dude!
