Manny Pacquaio has already destroyed Diaz, in a 9 round tko..

Diaz is a solid boxer.. I mean, look at his record, but he's not going to beat any true elite boxers.. He's a formidable tuneup fight for Marquez.

It's not like Marquez picked a scrub to fight.

Diaz's biggest victory is over Eric Morales, but that was a controversial call by the judges.

Soto would be a better fight but more of a risk. Marquez has to win this next fight otherwise all deals are off. Marquez is also looking at fighting a southpaw since I don't think he has fought one since Casamayor.

Diaz is a rough customer but a safe fight here for Marquez. Isn't known for head butts so he should be safe there as well.

Just a note, Pac shouldn't had fought David when he went to lightweight. That should have never counted as a title fight. David won a vacant title in a controversial decision vs Morales [I had Morales winning]. Juan Diaz and Joel Casamayor where the top dogs at that moment and he should have fought one of them. Would make all these titles in different weight classes more legit. Right now the Lightweight and Jr Middleweight ones are paper titles.
