AEG has supposedly talked to five different NFL teams about moving to a new LA stadium. The teams mentioned in the Yahoo Sports article are St. Louis, Jacksonville, Oakland, San Diego & Minnesota. The Raiders have already responded with a "hell no!" & the Vikes say they're trying to do a deal in Minneapolis.
So was Tim Leiweke talking out of his rear end? He actually said that AEG would pay to get a team out of their current lease. Is that even legal? It's a $1.35 billion deal for a stadium that currently has Farmers as the sponsor.
Of course I find it amusing that 3 of the 5 teams AEG is supposedly talking to once played in LA. The Chargers started in LA in 1960 & moved 100 miles south the next year. The Rams were founded in Cleveland in 1936 & moved to LA in 1946 because they didn't want to compete with the Browns. Then dumbbell Georgia Frontiere moved the team to St. Louis. And of course we know about "dirty" Al Davis & his stunt of moving the Raiders from Oakland to LA for 12 years & then moving back north.
The economy is poor right now & we don't even know if there will be a season, but lets play stadium/city roulette. A lot of people in the Bay Area know what sleazes AEG is anyway. They owned the championship San Jose soccer team & moved them to Houston. Now we have a different team using the same name. So we know they play dirty.
