"Iron" Mike Tyson a.k.a "the Baddest Man on the Planet" is now a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame. I for one enjoyed Mike Tyson while his boxing career was intact. He was a very deranged dude for sure, but his fericiousness and tenacity in the squared circle cannot be denied. Tyson has critics saying he never beat anybody notable, I disagree with that notion. I dont think these guys I'm about to list are GREAT(except Holmes), but they were good fighters in their day. *Tyson finished an older Larry Holmes in 4 rounds, Tyson finished Bruce Seldon in 1 round, Tyson finished Frank Bruno in 3 rounds, Tyson beat Michael Spinks in 91 seconds to win the HW strap,  Tyson went 11 rounds with Holyfield (pre-ear bite) in Holyfield's prime, and Tyson dismantled the "White Buffalo" Francois Botha in 5 rounds. Tyson is the youngest heavyweight champion ever at the young age of 20 years old. Iron Mike won the title at 20 against the late Trevor Berbick. Trevor Berbick was the LAST MAN to beat Muhammed Ali. Tyson's biggest bout was probably against James "Buster" Douglas. Douglas was Tyson's 1st professional loss. Douglas was a 42-1 underdog in that fight. Buster Douglas knocked Tyson out in the 10th round on Feb. 11th 1990, in Tokyo, Japan. The fight went back and forth during their scheduled 12 round bout. Tyson had actually knocked Buster down prior to the Buster "money shot" on Tyson, which is played over and over again on Espn and Espn Classics till this day.

Yeah, Yeah, Tyson's had his troubles, but look at his youth. Tyson was bullied and teased as a young lad. Tyson stayed in Juvenile detentions untill Cus(Mentor/1st trainer) bailed him out of his horrible life. Tyson could not handle fame or people once getting it B-I-G. Money and Women were the root of Tyson's evils. Tyson had a serious tragedy in his life occur not too along ago. Tyson's baby daughter died only a couple years ago in a FREAK accident on his workout equipment at his home. Tyson was not at home when this event tragic event happened. Tyson hasn't had it like roses and filet Mignon. Well, maybe the Mignon part. ha Anyways, back to the blog. Mike Tyson's image has gotten better over the years via the Hangover and his unforgettable Oprah appearance w/ Holyfield(youtube below). Mike Tyson's gone on to make a GREAT documentary named "TYSON", which is a must see for ANY boxing fan. Mike Tyson's Punchout for Nintendo is still a GREAT game to rewind on, and was a HUGE hit in the late eighties.(1987 to be exact) Mike Tyson thrilled us with his commentary after the fights, his devastating power in the ring, and his troubles out the arena kept us in suspense. Mike Tyson finished with a record of 50-6 with 44 ko's. Pretty insane record if you ask me. One thing I can say about Tyson is that he was a HUGE attraction. In pay per view terms, Tyson is the biggest draw the heavyweight division in boxing has EVER seen, there's no question about that. courtesy of nesn.com With his win over Antonio Margarito on Nov. 13, Manny Pacman joined "Iron Mike"  as the only fighters to generate 1 million pay-per-view orders in three consecutive years, ESPN.com reports

I'd like to leave ya'll with 2 youtubes and one more subject to touch at the end. The first youtube is Evander Holyfield and Tyson on Oprah.. lol They settle the infamous "ear bite". This is MUST SEE below!!!!

Oprah "tube" courtesy of etirado0616

the NEXT "tube" is the HOF speech by Tyson. Pretty Hilarious if you ask me.

HOF speech courtesy of BoxingAsylum .. check them out on YOUTUBE!

ONE LAST THING ... For all those that hated on Tyson for biting Evander's ear, I got something to tell ya'll. Evander Holyfield is NOTORIOUS for headbutting his opponents. Headbutting in boxing is ILLEGAL, and obviously a big frustration to ANY opponent. If you watch Tyson vs Holyfield 1, you will see what i'm talking about. Evander in the 2nd fight did his headbutt's again, therefore Tyson chomped on his ear. Tyson's ear bite didn't come outta left field like people think. I can't really blame "Iron Mike" for his actions, after all, Evander's head butt intiated Tyson's rage. Thanks for your time.. Tyson deserves his seat in the Hall. "MR. BOB N WEEVE"!!! Tyson had the meanest uppercut I've ever seen in my lifetime. What a rare breed he was in the ring! Adios!!!!!

Tyson's induction speech puts MJ's to shame.

Love the reminiscing about the robberies... "Yeah, I did it."

Lol yup. He just leaves the podium. Yeah, difference between mj and tyson's speech, is that tyson was humble. Michael Jordan said he could still play in the league, what cocky s.o.b.. I have never liked Jordan, but i respect his game.

Yep,Tyson,is a shoe in[reguardless of his many downsides]and people that have never followed boxing,it's sad hat Cus died so early in Mikes career as Mike never respected anyone as minutely as he did for his only authority figure in His life,Or he may have turned out alot different and possibly did better in his pro career.reguardless, mike was always getting on the news with another bone headed incident.but His power in the ring, was awesome too watch,He is one of the few, that had a very leathal uppercut, used on his taller opponents, that and when he used bodyshots that folded up fighters like an accordian,so,i try too just post about his life in the ring and not out of it,take care Peach.

Tyson NEVER beat the top dogs in the division at the time.....

Lewis, Holyfield, & Riddick Bowe......

Everyone keeps saying that if Cus was still living, things would have been different....I DISAGREE....You either "HAVE IT" or "YOU DON'T"......as far as MENTAL TOUGHNESS GOES....That's something Tyson lacked IMHO......

If you could take his shots....& could land yours(which wasn't very hard as the fight progressed)...Tyson lost steam as the fight progressed....

The type of style Tyson had(PRESSURE/PUNCHER) allowed a good technical boxer who knew how to use his reach to just pick him apart from the outside......Tyson was kind of like a "poor man's" Joe Frazier, only I hold Frazier in a HIGHER regard.....Tyson didn't have a plan B.... he only knew how to fight one way.....STRAIGHT FORWARD...Boxers like that usually don't last too long.....

PCH:

Yeah, that's true....Holyfield was headbutting the shi-ought out of Tyson.....it frustrated him.....But it does not excuse the biting incident.....HAHAHA

Just remember Cus wasn't alive in any of those losses, and I DISAGREE,that,Cus wouldn't have made a difference.Casein point 1st loss Buster douglas,no Cus,just some clowns that Don King whipped togeather no experienc,NO PROPER training without GUS,thes clowns couldn't stop a bleeding paper cut, much less the the brow area, then?NO INSWELL,they used a rubber glove for the swelling, and he was gassed out and CUS,wouldn't have used these as/sclowns too, lace his shoes, much less be cornermen for Tyson, and Cus wojuld have had him properly conditioned before showing up in the 1st thing, and CUS,would have had him in shape, and FOCUSED for this joke of a fight.what did Buster do after knocking out Tyson?,Got his ass knocked the **** out,so don't run that bull/s/h/i/t about Mental toughness, with DON KING running the show.him being a very elite fknscumbag that trashs out boxers as his trademark.and that 'strieght forward style seemed too have been very good ,while CUS,was in his corner with the right trainors, cutmen and cornermen,as this didn't happen when CUS,was training and preping Him worked out just fine.but Tyson went too hell ina handbag AFTER CUS DUED.so who knows how many more successful outcomes would have happened with CUS,still in his corner,You have an opinion,I have mine.

yeah, I agree with you..Tyson's corner for the Douglas fight was a circus act.....Still, though, I DON'T AGREE WITH EVERY THING U JUST WROTE.

If you look at the history of boxing....fighters like Tyson(Pressure Fighters) usually don't last too long.....it takes alot of energy to fight that way.....

Tyson was only going to be good for a few years....against the RIGHT OPPONENTS.....Tyson had too many DISADVANTAGES in his style of fighting....

For one, he was short for a Heavyweight

2, he was too ONE DIMENSIONAL
3. THE MAIN ONE: the guy lacked MENTAL TOUGHNESS!

Ever heard the phrase "boxing is 90% mental, 10% physical?" It's very true....U can lose a fight before u ever step up to the ring...Ala Spinks before he stepped into the fight with Tyson, Vernon Forrest before he stepped into the ring with Mayorga, Duran before he stepped into the ring with Hearns.....

If you "doubt" yourself or your abilities, it's all over HOMEBOY! Let me ask u something, u ever boxed?
