It's early in the first half of the UK UNC game. The score when I last checked was tied at seven. Today's game marks the thirtith time the two programs have matched up, with UNC holding a commanding 19 wins in the series. There is a lot of history in the game here. They have met twice in the NCAA tournament with UNC winning both of those games. The first meeting was in 1924, in the SIAA tournament, which UNC also won.
Recruiting between the schools has also been a storied thing. All American James Jordan led UNC to the NCAA finals in 1946, transferred to UK after being told by Rupp that he would be a bench player, he played very little while he earned his master's degree in education. Of course during the late 40's UKs talent level was very deep, so Jordan was not the only All American riding the pine.
UNC comes into the game today ranked number two, but UK has kept it close tying the game at 9 with 14 minutes left to play in the first half. UK is smothering Big T, if they can keep this up, maybe Coach Billy can get a marquee win this early in the season.
I'll be back later, but here is my predicition for the game.
UNC 87
UK 80
