Rumors are floating around this team about it closing at the end of the year to possibly Mark Martin coming and becoming much like Tony Stewart in his team. Mark may come in and Red Bull team may become another Hendrick satellite team.
Other rumors are that the team may go after Clint Bowyer at the end of the season.

show me the money.
No idea where the sponsorships will come from for this dream(ed) team. Tony already runs Haas on the hood of Newman's car occassionally. Don;t know if that is by design but surely would rather have somebody else's money coming in.
I would be quite surprised to see Mark "retire" to the executive position, but then again, some years ago, would ANY of us thought that Mikey would or could run a multicar team?
Let's propogate the rumor another step and add Kousin Karl as Clint's teammate, and with that, both Subway and UPS leave Roush to provide the funding for Mark.

cant disagree with the sentiment to return to more single car teams, but I got to admit its a sentiment and probably not fiscally practical these days.
Problem with Red Bull leaving is that opens up two MORE of the 43 positions for players who have no intention of finishing the race.

I guess everyone has an opinion and I agree with some of these and disagree with others. I definitely disagree with Subway and UPS sponsoring Mark. They are after a younger image. I don't see Mark as the poster boy for Subway or UPS for that matter.

I don't think the Viagra sponsorship worked out to well for Mark he seemed to tired for races. Bad economy, somethings got to shake out somewhere.
By the way 22 GA Red Bull is an energy drink. Keeps the kids and long haul truck drivers awake. Just like Amp that Junior promotes.

I think we'll be seeing a lot more musical chairs with sponsors in the future. If NASCAR doesn't stop the slide in ratings and attendance, I think you'll also see more cutting back or taking their money elsewhere. There were a lot of empty seats at Michigan.
Something else I've been wondering. wasn't McDowell rookie of the year a couple of years back. How does a driver go from that to an under 30 lap start nap park and deal with it?

It's all about money and the lack of competitiveness in the team as a whole.
The Dinger was brought in as part of the Open Wheel movement in NASCAR and like 99% of those drivers he didn't compete up to expectations, and was a casualty of the times.
Scott Speed had a couple of good Truck races and 1 win in that series before being "promoted" to Cup with Dinger's release. The just over 2 years (25 months actually) and about 100 crashed racecars later he was released.
Brian Vickers, the face of TRB, had been steadily improving as a driver with the team. Even making the Chase in 2009. 2010 looked like it would be a good year for the #83 team until health issues sidelined Vickers.
After a revolving door with drivers throughout the rest of the season and 2010 ended in less then spectacular fashion. The low point being a wreck were Casey Mears, driving the #83, while racing his teammate wrecked both cars effectively ending both their days and his stint as a TRB driver.
Kasey Khane was signed to a 1 year deal "on loan" from Hendrick Motorsports for the end of 2010 and all of 2011. And while he has show some promise by running in the top 10 in several races, fuel mileage, wrecks, and bad pit stops have left him with a less then stellar performance.
So after 4 years of inconsistency, it is no surprise TRB is ready to throw in the towel. When you look at how dominant they have been in other series like Formula 1 it must be frustrating to those guys in Austria who are paying the bills being the owner/sponsor.

Part of the problem was trying to get through that little side window on Sunday when he had the Saturday Evening Post.

No he never won RotY in Cup. In fact he has never run a full season in Cup.

the comment from Red Bull is that NASCAR is not appealing to the 34 year old and under Market / Red Bull target market ....
remember the Wing was NASCAR trying to get a Younger Market .... and did not work !

While I think Mark Martin is on of the best, I don't see him making much of an impact in Nascar anymore, He will be a fill in for some team, thats just the way it goes in nascar.
