So here is a topic that can generate a lot of conversation, and will provide everyone the chance to tell their best fishing/hunting stories.
Please provide the details of the hunt/catch if you can.
I mostly fish for bass, and I could tell you stories about fish all day, but there are only two I would like to share as far as this topic goes.
The biggest bass I ever caught was a largemouth that weighed right around 9 pounds. It was caught in a pond behind my friend's house west of Pittsburgh near the airport. It's mouth was as big as damn softball. And it put up one hell of a fight. I was using a 6.5 foot Ugly Stick rod, 8 pound flourocarbon line, and a Rapala X-rap lure.
Considering the PA state record for largemouth bass is 11 pounds 3 ounces, I thought a 9 pounder was pretty damn good.
The second biggest bass I have ever landed was right around 8 pounds. It was caught with a size 1 hook and a huge nightcrawler.
I've also caught a handful of large carp and catfish out of the Mononghela and Allegheny Rivers here in Pittsburgh, but I have no clue how much they weighed.
As far as hunting goes, I haven't hunted since I was about 15, but the biggest deer I've ever tagged was a small 8 point. Not really anthing to write home about haha
I used a Remington 30-06 to kill that deer.

Yep. Being new to Colorado I don't know where any of the good fishin' or huntin' spots are. Now my one bro-in-law knows where all the good spots are. But he told me over the weekend he's already made reservations for use at some private lake a couple hours away from Boulder in mid July. He told me the name and location but I don't remember. I'm really lookin' forward to it though.
