I have been a Missouri Tiger fan my whole life which is probably why I have never really cared that much about the BCS...because we have never had a chance to experience the ridiculous bullcrap that is the BCS.  But this year we had a shot at the BCS.  It has just been announced that Mizzou will be going to the Cotton Bowl, a decent bowl, but not a BCS bowl.  To me this is absolutely ludacris.  In the Big 12, there were three teams going for two BCS spots.  Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri.  Oklahoma should get a spot, no doubt, they beat Mizzou twice.  Kansas only has one loss but guess who that loss was to?  That's right it was to Missouri.  Missouri's only losses were to a top 3 OU team which very well might be the most talented team in the nation.  So why in God's name would Kansas get in, in front of the Mizzou team that beat them, on a neutral site?  You tell me...because it makes no sense to me.  Also, Mizzou beat Illinois, on a neutral site, earlier in the year.  Illinois has a good chance of making the BCS.  Why does a 3 loss Illinois team have a chance to get in over Mizzou?  Because the BCS is all about money and tradition.  They could care less if they get the right teams in as long as they get good profits and they get traditional matchups that bring in money.  Another reason that Illinois may get a BCS bid over the Tigers is that the BCS only allows two teams from each conference.  So you could, hypothetically, have three top ten teams in one conference and only two of them get in while a less deserving team from another conference gets the bid.  And guess what?  That is exactly what happened to Missouri today.  Absolutely ridiculous.  The Tigers are ranked ahead of both Kansas and Illinois in the two polls that have come out as of now but they won't be playing a BCS bowl.  If I am wrong, please correct me but if I remember, Kansas didn't even win their division of the Big 12.  They couldn't beat out four other teams to take their division title.  They weren't good enough to go to their conference championship and Mizzou was so WHY are they getting a BCS bid over Mizzou.  This system is absolutely ridiculous and this is my first real experience with getting screwed over because of it.

So I guess the "biggest game in the history of Mizzou or Kansas" that was played last week meant absolutely zero?

Ludicrous. Ludacris is a rapper.

December 2, 2007  08:07 PM ET

Thanks for the clarification, Esco. Haha.

December 2, 2007  08:07 PM ET

I don't care, OSU is in another NC game!

December 2, 2007  08:12 PM ET

sorry i was in a hurry....
and OSU is very lucky they didn't have to play a conference championship game...they backed into it...oh well at least my Tigers had a shot

December 2, 2007  08:17 PM ET

Illinois vs. USC? Bad for the Illini.

December 2, 2007  08:25 PM ET

Yea...Yea both my Illini and LSU got a BCS bowl game. The Cotton bowl is still a really good bowl. Only if that playoffs bracket would have come out early for college football then the Tigers could of got in. The Tigers will have a good team next year maybe they get to the National Championship game next year.

December 2, 2007  08:36 PM ET

USC AND LSU: Best two teams in the country..one of them gets the nod, the other may get a split.

December 2, 2007  08:46 PM ET

USC-lost to Stanford...don't care about your injuries, if you are top two team you do not lose to freaking Stanford.

December 2, 2007  08:47 PM ET

And congrats to Illinois for their BCS bid...I just don't think it's fair...

December 2, 2007  08:49 PM ET

great points...quick comparisons
Ill. beat a #1, so did Mizzou
mizzou has 2 losses, Ill. has 3
Mizzou beat Ill. head to head
mizzou is ranked ahead of ill
all things point to mizzou, except for the fact that noone wants to see mizzou play in a BCS game...

December 2, 2007  09:21 PM ET

Also...
Mizzou SOS 26 out of 119
Kansas SOS 109 out of 119

Mizzou beat KU head to head and never trailed. Mizzou is ahead of KU in the BCS rankings.

December 2, 2007  09:37 PM ET

Mizzou should have gotten a BCS game. ILL is going to get hammered by USC, WVU will get smoked by my SOONERS, Kansas will show the country it belongs, I will be a Ohio State fan for one night, and I'm hoping Hawaii pulls one off against the Georgia rump rangers.

December 2, 2007  09:38 PM ET

So do you think Mizzou should have gotten in instead of Kansas? You said Kansas belongs and your Sooners belong but their can only be two teams from the Big 12...

December 2, 2007  09:46 PM ET

Yes. Missouri should have gotten in over Kansas. Missouri lost twice, but both losses were to a #3 Oklahoma.

Missouri defeated Kansas.

Missouri's SOS: 26th. Kansas SOS: 109th.

Kansas looked weak against Nebraska, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But the Missouri game proved they're not ready to contend.

For the sake of the big12, I'd rather have the stronger team in, and the stronger team is Missouri.

December 2, 2007  09:48 PM ET

ps. I'm really sorry, MJ. I had no doubt it would turn out like this, but that doesn't make it any easier for the fans.

Is this Daniel's last year?

December 2, 2007  10:14 PM ET

No, he has one more year and then we will get to see if our five star recruit is for real in gabbert....

December 2, 2007  11:07 PM ET

I have never been more disgusted about this system. I will not watch the National Championship game at all. I hate Ohio State too much to be objective and they don't deserve to be there. It doesn't matter if they lose, the fact that they're in it is a joke.

December 3, 2007  12:02 AM ET

as a USC fan, i will be rooting for OSU to kick LSwho's ASSets.

December 3, 2007  12:44 AM ET

BCS is awful. But Illinois went because system guarantees the Rose bowl a Big 10 team when the winner goes to the BCS Championship game.

I agree Mizzou is better than Kansas. KU didn't beat any team that rec'd even 1 top 25 vote (not ranked but not even receiving a vote). Although Mizzou should be more upset that they had 2 shots and failed-- losing both times to OU.

December 3, 2007  12:46 AM ET

Anthony E has nothing to do with people wanting to see Mizzou because even less want to see Illinois a slightly above average team play. It has to do with the # of teams a conference can send and the agreement between NCAA/BCS and rosebowl
