This is what the Los Angeles newspapers are reporting on December 3, 2007.

"The Rose Bowl was not allowed to select Georgia because of a rule that protected SEC teams from being selected once LSU went to the BCS title game. Florida was also not an option under that rule, which was passed when Iowa was selected in the 2003 Orange Bowl to play USC, which forced the Rose Bowl to select Oklahoma."

What does loumouthed LSU coach Les Miles think about this?  It's obvious that even elite SEC teams do not have the intestinal fortitude to step out on the gridiron with USC on New Year's Day.  I would have thought that  after all of the disparaging remarks about the Pac 10 made by SEC coaches at the start of the 2007 NCAA football season that they would welcome the opportunity to slug it out with the six-time champions of the Pac 10.  Now all of America can see the cowardice of the SEC as plain as day.  Too bad Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon tore his ACL; otherwise, the Ducks would have probably administered a beating to LSU.  The Fighting Illini have a fine football team, but USC is going to annihilate them on Jan. 1, 2008.

You're kidding, right? Neither LSU nor UGA had any control over the situation. I can tell you that the ONLY bowl UGA fans were interested in other than the NC game was the Rose Bowl. Hawaii??? Bah, humbug. But, back to your inspid post, you don't have a clue, Pac-10 boy.

Of course it's a LA newspaper that uses a word like "protecting."

An objective newspaper (if one ever existed) would not say that the SEC was being protected; it would say something like "was self-created so that" instead of "protected" b/c it makes it sound like the SEC sought out this rule or the Rose bowl was somehow opposed to this rule.

If you read Stewart Mandell's mailbag, you would see why UGA wasn't allowed to play in the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl is probably the one who rejected UGA b/c the commission for the Rose Bowl only likes the Pac 10 and Big 10 facing off. The Rose Bowl would've made so much more money having UGA there, but they are too attached to their tradition of a Pac 10/Big 10 match-up.

If anything, the Pac 10 is "protecting" themselves from the SEC. How 'bout them apples!?

Obviously you don't really pay attention to college football. To trust an LA paper for your source of what goes on with the sport is pretty poor.
UGA, LSU or even Florida would LOVE to play USC. Stop hiding behind your little flower bowl and cut your ties. We all know that's the politics of it all. The Rose Bowl was afraid to have one of their flagship conferences lose in their game. Go back to reading your little tabloids and let the big boys play football. Pac-10 fans have no idea and you wonder why we don't think much of your conference.

College football fans are victims of circumstances. The Pac 10 commisioner is a jackass but then which BCS commissioner isn't.

USC-Georgia matchup would have been even better than the National Mythical Championship. Teams and fans gets stiffed all the time.

No matter, Fight On!!!

You must be a child - do you not know that an SEC team was not invited?
There is no such rule - the Rose Bowl Comm. wants the BIGPAC!
Not the SEC - remember last year when the Rose Bowl Comm. dumped LSU from the Rose - we were coming & hell was coming with us - But the Commitee (who is that - your school presidents right? ) CHICKENED OUT!

We'd like NOTHING more than a chance to pop the trojan's bubble.
Keep in mind also that it's the Rose Bowl Committee that is holding the NCAA, BCS and the rest of College Football HOSTAGE !
Who is soooo scared of a play-off system that they threatened to "take their ball and go home" if the plus-one were adopted?

Guess you don't know - It was the PAC10 and BIG-10!
Go cry to the cowards son - the PAC&BIG!

Wow! To believe that you would honestly go all out with this blog based on what a biased LA paper wrote. Damn, you are funny.
