This is what the Los Angeles newspapers are reporting on December 3, 2007.

"The Rose Bowl was not allowed to select Georgia because of a rule that protected SEC teams from being selected once LSU went to the BCS title game. Florida was also not an option under that rule, which was passed when Iowa was selected in the 2003 Orange Bowl to play USC, which forced the Rose Bowl to select Oklahoma."

What does loumouthed LSU coach Les Miles think about this?  It's obvious that even elite SEC teams do not have the intestinal fortitude to step out on the gridiron with USC on New Year's Day.  I would have thought that  after all of the disparaging remarks about the Pac 10 made by SEC coaches at the start of the 2007 NCAA football season that they would welcome the opportunity to slug it out with the six-time champions of the Pac 10.  Now all of America can see the cowardice of the SEC as plain as day.  Too bad Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon tore his ACL; otherwise, the Ducks would have probably administered a beating to LSU.  The Fighting Illini have a fine football team, but USC is going to annihilate them on Jan. 1, 2008.

Trust me. Georgia fans wanted to show the fraud that USC is like no tomorrow. They feel screwed by the Conference tie-ins. The Big Ten commish was crying to the Rose Bowl when he heard his Big Ten team might not be there. Don't be hating on the SEC when they would love to play your little team.

Your comments show absoulutely no understanding of the BCS selection process. Georgia or Florida would have loved to have played USC in the Rose Bowl. Unfortunately (this is where your lack of understanding kicks in) the rules would not let them.
Just so you understand>
Rule 1: Just as the Rose picks the top PAC-10 team the Sugar picks the top SEC team; with LSU championship bound that meant GA goes to Sugar Bowl. Rule 2: Only two teams from the same conference are allowed into the BCS, for the SEC that was LSU and GA; meaning Fla was not allowed even a consideration for the Rose Bowl.
Do your research and get your facts straight.

Mark Richt made calls to USC and the PAC 10 officials promoting a USC v. UGA game. It would have been a great one. Don't blame UGA, blame the greed of the Sugar Bowl....

The Rose Bowl is commission is very conservative, as in they like to keep the same two conferences squaring off. The Rose Bowl doesn't want an SEC team to play in it, only Pac 10 and Big 10. I would've loved to have seen UGA/USC; that would've put more ammo on the fire for the SEC/Pac 10 debate.

4-8 Stanford sure wasn't afraid of USC. You statement starts with from a Los Angeles newspaper. hmmmmm. Newspaper, in L.A., where USC calls home. Newspaper blow stats and statements out of proportion to make it more appealing to the reader. I would love to see a good SEC team go up against the Trojans.

Posted on another sports site by writer Ivan Maisel:

Given the opportunity to match No. 7 USC against No. 5 Georgia, the Rose Bowl chose No. 13 Illinois instead to preserve its Pac-10 vs. Big Ten identity. That decision freed up the Sugar Bowl to install Georgia as its "host" team. The Dawgs will buy a lot of tickets for a game against No. 10 Hawaii, which isn't likely to bring a lot of fans.

Under BCS rules, a bowl game that loses a team to the BCS Championship Game may "protect" at-large teams from that conference. For instance, the Sugar could have invoked that rule to prevent the Rose from selecting Georgia. However, Slive said, the Rose did not seek Georgia.

LA reporters tell you a little. Not the whole story so their little team can still look like a giant in the land of hippies and coffee drinkers.
Get your story straight before you babble on like an idiot. And where is USC leaving their part of the country to play a bowl game. Mark Richt wanted to play you cause he knew they'd beat you.
