Danica Patrick has arrived, she proved tonight she can do NASCAR, finishing well at Daytona will problably give her the confidence needed to drive on any track.
There has to be a smile on the kings of the sport, the France family are problably opening a bottle of the good vino.
A full time Danica would be great for the sport.
NASCAR has a shortage of drivers with personality, actually there is a draught of characters
We don't want this sport to be like wrestling, but lets be honest, most of this guys are boring.
Jimmie Johnson is a great champion but he is boring, Jeff Gordon is the greatest, but he's a snoozer, puts me to sleep in the first 10 seconds of a 3 minute interview.
Carl Edwards reminds me of Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties, Carl would be the guy I would want a daughter to bring home, he just looks like the guy who would never do anything wrong,
I understand there are folks who love those "no drama drivers" , that's fine , but the sport needs a balance, it needs more drivers like Montoya ,Stewart, Hamlin, Big K and most of all like Kyle Busch.
Here is a good adition to that mix, one Danica Patrick.
I can't wait until Danica has to punt Harvick, if that dream comes true, I wonder if his wife with the "fire suit" will go after her or if Kevin will push Danica around, I'm hoping, now that's entertainment folks.
Most importantly Danica Patrick will put young girls and -not so young- man in the stands or at least looking in at the broadcasts.
We can agree on that.
NASCAR needs Danica Patrick to come into cup and do well, maybe not as a champion but at least a solid top ten player.
I love racing and I would watch it even without Danica, but we got to remember there is another phenomenon out there that could increase the audience of any sport.
An example of that is Maria Sharapova, I'm not a big tennis fan but if she is playing in a quarter finals I'll fallow her right to the end.
The same thing, in a bigger scale, happened when Tiger Woods hit the PGA, golf ratings went viral.
Will Danica's success in NASCAR have the same results, maybe not, but we can all bet the house she will improve the ratings.
We may also agree in one thing (well, not all) if NASCAR embraces diversity the sport will move forward, specially when it depends so heavily on advertising, one only need to look into the country's changing demographics.
All sports moving forward will need to cater to a wider audience.
Just saying.
As always this is just a fans opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I'm thankful for that.

Calling her "arrived" is a little sort sighted I think. One good race does not make a season, just as Trevor Bayne. Plate races are a different beast. She did very well last night, and I wish her well in whatever she does, but I think she will need a couple more top10's at different tracks before she has "arrived".
But what I do think is that after last night Danica will be in NASCAR in 2012 full time.
