Asdrubal Cabrera is the best shortstop in MLB, period, let me qualify that, Asdrubal Cabrera is the best shortstop in 2011- period.
Is my understanding that players should be picked for their performance during the year, not the "lifetime stats"
I love to see Pedro pitch and Reggie hit, I'm sure they're still around, if fans are going to have guys voted in on their lifetime records maybe the should pick a couple of retired guys.
We can all agree with that.
Jeter will start the all-star game at shortstop. The fans picked a 260 hitter who is pass his prime.
Fair enough, even though Jeter has never been able to make the plays an Omar Vizquel or Asdrubal Cabrera can make, Jeter was a great hitter and that's what fans remember.
It's a shame that in 2011 more deserving players won't get the chance to get their due just because the fans will be voting for "their guys" based on memories.
Jeter should not be the starter on this all-star game, the all-star game deserves to display the best the game has to offer, in 2011 Jeter is not. you not going to get spectacular all-star plays from Jeter, you will get them from Asdrubal Cabrera.
One can actually make a case for the Tigers J. Peralta, he is more deserving to start than Jeter.
We cal all agree on that, if you don't, please spend some time on -you tube- and play their clips, I guarantee it will become clear to you why Asdrubal is the best in 2011.
As always is just a fans opinion and from what I understand everybody has one and I'm thankful for that.

Hey it's fair. Jeter just came off of the DL and is batting what, around .260. Jeter is there only becasue of him name. His production is not what it used to be. And if he wasn't The captain of the Yankees his name wouldn't even have been mentioned. he doesn't belong there this year.

Sure brother... I'm a Latino, I grew up playing baseball in the streets with no glove, and got to be very good short after I was able to buy a real glove.. so yea I problably don't know the game very well...but at least you do so please give me your opinion ,,,please..
