USA Today has released all of the coaches top 25 polls. Most of them look normal. Ohio State at number 1. LSU at number 2. West Virginia at 9. Then you get to Florida Atlantic coach Howard Schnellenberger's poll. Here it is.
1. Ohio State
6. Virginia Tech
9. West Virginia
10. Boise State
11. Boston College
13. Arizona State
This is insane. Kansas at number 2!? They played one of the easiest schedules in the country. They lost to Missouri to lose the Big XII North, and Schnellenberger has them in the championship game?
Hawaii at 3 is also insane. They have played the easiest schedule in the country by far. They have had close calls against awful teams like Washington, San Jose State, and Louisiana Tech. They shouldn't be a top 10 team. Maybe not top 15.
Missouri above Oklahoma? Oklahoma beats them twice fairly soundly both times. What does Oklahoma have to do to prove to this nutjob that they are better than Mizzou?
Boise State at 10? I expect to see Washington around 5 in this guy's poll. They lost to Hawaii, who according to Schnellenberger is a top 3 team and Washington, who had 4 wins.
Connecticut was nice story this year, but they got lucky against Temple and Louisville. They were not very good at all.
Florida is a three loss team. Those losses are all to ranked teams, two of them to top 5 teams. Schnellenberger must not respect the other teams in Florida.
I want to see his Heisman ballot. Here's what I think it would look like.
1. Ian Johnson, Boise State
2. Jake Locker, Washington
3. Aqib Talib, Kansas
4. Jay Berwanger, Chicago
I can see now why they went to a BCS. This idiot doesn't deserve a say in who wins the championship.
