I've decided to try and do a blog every week for Dogs, Pigs and Sheep.
With the positive feedback I received with last week's prison songs blog, I'm gonna try and think of a theme for a blog every week, but if my mind is blank, I might make the blog featuring an artist or band. Either way, I appreciate any feedback given be it positive or negative.
The theme for this week's blog is rodeo songs.
Word of warning, most of these songs will be Country songs, and if you don't like Country music, that's your preference, but I would still like your feedback. Also This weeks blog will prominently feature three artists.
I'm not a long winded or silver tongued fellow, so I won't type too much, just a brief description of each song.
Feel free to post any songs you feel I should have included.
I'll start us off with a little George Strait.
George Strait- I Can Still Make Cheyenne
This song is about a woman that can't handle her husband being constantly on the road with the rodeo, and she finally left saying, "I found someone new and he sure ain't no rodeo man." The man's heart is broken, but he can still make Cheyenne if he hurries.
Garth Brooks- Much Too Young(To Feel This Damn Old)
The wear and tear, along with the constant travel of the rodeo has this guy feeling old before his time. This song also features the lonliness of the road.
Chris Ledoux- 8 Second Ride
Chris was a world champion bareback rider in the 70's. I think he knows a thing or two about rodeo life. It never hurts to have rodeo experience when writing a song about the rodeo. This song is about the thrills of the rodeo and how rodeo life can be addictive. I think you guys will enjoy this song the most.
Dan Seals- Everything That Glitters is Not Gold
This is a song about a single father/rodeo man. He's struggling to tell her about what happened to her daughter's mother, and knowing how to deal with her growing into womanhood.
George Strait- Amarillo By Mornin
This is one of George Strait's signature songs. This song is about the journey to the country fair in Amarillo as part of the rodeo circuits, and the troubles he's had along the way.
Garth Brooks- Beaches of Cheyenne
This songs is about a man that died trying to ride a bull that no man could ride, and how his widow went crazy after he died and remembering the last words she spoke to him before he died.
Chris Ledoux- Bareback Jack
This song is about the dreams of a kid of becoming a rodeo star. Eventually the dream comes true, and he realizes it's not the life it's made out to be when he's laying in bed with injuries he got after his last ride.
Last, but not least,
Justin McBride- Don't Let Go
This is a more current song by a 2 time PBR champion, and my favorite bull rider, Justin McBride. This song is telling the story of winning his first championship, and the advice he was given along the way.
I hope you enjoy this blog, and remember, any feedback is appreciated.
