With the Major League Baseball trade deadline Sunday its time for the Nationals annual movement of players to assist those in contention. The Nationals are getting closer, but still are sellers.
Lets take a look at what the Nats have to offer:
Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez- San Francisco is obviously in need and has indicated such.
IMPACT: Jesus Flores is ready to play, he and Wilson Ramos can take it from here
Matt Stairs- Someone must need one of the best pinch hitters of all time, right?
Alex Cora and Jerry Hairston- Utility men, everyone needs one, we'll let ???em go cheap!
IMPACT: Minimal. Brian Bixler seems capable of the utility role and I am ready to see what Chris Marrero has to offer.
Rick Ankiel and Laynce Nix- Both left handed, Nix with plenty of pop, Ankiel a gold glove.
IMPACT: Bernadina needs to play every day and how about giving Corey Brown a look? If not, hang on to Nix I like his style.
Livan Hernandez, Jason Marquis, Tom Gorzelanny- Veteran hurlers to aid a contender in the dog days.
IMPACT: Livan can always be re-signed next season, right? Marquis salary could be used elsewhere.
