| 01:14 PM ET  08.10 | I was asked this question by a local newspaper sports writer the other day . Why are there so few black fans at professional  baseball games . Heres my opinion , besides the obvious money , there are very few home grown black players in the major league because there are no sandlot fields in the inner cities for them to practice and play on . The inner cities have been forgotten because of the white flight to the suburbs where the money is being invested . Most inner cities only have run down basketball courts , no grass cutting needed for basketball . Because of the lack of money in these cities nothing is being built , no homes , businesses , no nothing . The owners are bringing these foreigners from Japan , Dominican Republic , and Cuba just to name a few and blacks in this country don't identify with them . Blacks in America are still the last to get hired and the first to be fired so they don't have the money nor the credit to move to the suburbs , where their kids can play , baseball , soccer , swim or even go to a descent movie theater . If the powers that be would invest some of the millions they make , back into these forgotten communities you would see more American blacks on the field and in the stands .
