If you were the Astros GM or a GM of any team, why the hell would you do a trade or sign a free agent today when the Mitchell report is coming out tomorrow?
I will go on record as predicting that Tejada is named in the report and that is why Baltimore traded him today.
Ironically, Pettite signed his contract today and he and Clemens have been linked to a guy who has been in trouble for distributing "performance enhancing drugs" to baseball players. I am a huge Pettite fan so this is tough to write.
** (this is added the day of the Mitchell report but before names released) - I also have to include A-Rod based on the Pettite assumptions. Why are all of these deals falling into place HOURS before the report. I hope that I am wrong.
**lets add Jake Peavy to that list too.
On the good side, I can see events like this inspiring "family guys" (like I am assuming Pettite is) to buck the Player's union stance of deny, accuse and hide to take a proactive stance against performance enhancing drugs in order to try and ammend their good names for the sake of their kids. At least I am hoping that is the case.

That's a great point. I forgot about that. Very interesting. Add the fact that this big trade was very out of character for the Orioles.
Then again, the Astros gave up alot. It was common sense really for the Orioles, no matter if he was juiced or not.
