For the last 4 months, I have seen all of the haters come out of the woodwork. Why is it that U of M loses to App. State and everyone from the SEC to the WAC all stand and cheer collectively, but USC gets beat by the doormat of the Pac-10 (Stanford) and you hear nothing of it. The answer that you are thinking of is 100%, pure unadulterated JEALOUSY!! Michigan has been so good for so long that everyone who is not a fan absolutely loves it. Do any of you remember that Florida and LSU, the new powerhouses of college football didn't even become known as football schools until the mid to late 80's? And I heard the AD for LSU say that their coaching job is a much better job than in Ann Arbor. Is that how far you have to go to retain a coach that learned everything he knows from Big Bo Schembechler?? If I am not mistaken, he got his education and his coaching prowess from that school in Ann Arbor.
I am not saying that the coaching job at U of M is the best position out there. All I am saying to everyone is to LAY OFF!! We have been here since the 1800's and I don't think we are going to go anywhere so let's just settle this on the field like we do every year and go from there. And the next time you see U of M lose a game like the App. State debacle, just think about USC-Stanford. It happens to everyone at some point in time. And to all the haters in the SEC and ACC, just remember that we were winning football games in Ann Arbor before most of your schools even existed, so back off!! (And by the way, if you are an Ohio State fan, go ahead and keep poking fun. I would if you lost to App. State!!)

Now you know what it feels like to be a Notre Dame fan. You get kicked when you're down by everybody.
But you're right: tradition never dies. These things are cyclical. Look at Oklahoma a decade ago. They were left for dead, but now they're back (under Stoops). Same with USC (under Carroll). And University of Texas (under Brown).
So UM, Notre Dame, and Nebraska will all come back eventually. When they do, it will be that much sweeter for their fans.

Irish John is spot on. Michigan wont be down for long. The only reason you're having so much trouble is because there wasn't someone lined up to take Lloyd's spot. U of M has always stayed inside the coaching staff, now they'er thinking outside the box. This is not a joke, but what about George O' Leary. He's done well at UCF.
