The investigator, the commissioner, and the union chief all stood defiantly today, offering their opinions on a long report that one wrote and none had read. Each was convinced that his individual take on the report was what everyone should listen to. Each wants to have his own way, and as a result none of them will get their way, nothing will happen, and relationships will get frosty. I doubt any side is going to back down and shoulder the most blame for what has happened and will instead be content to war with one another. If the parties to this report see fit to draw it out at every step and be bitter and uncooperative with all reform, then I feel really bad for the true fans of MLB who will be interminally disappointed by a volatile organism that cannot stop eating itself.
