I've been seeing this a lot lately - Tim Tebow is a bust; Tebow will never be a good quarterback.

What a load of horse manure.

The man has played one NFL season.  One.

And already people are calling him a bust?

Seriously?

Give me a break.  The guy has hardly had a chance to show what he's got, much less learn the system and fundamentals of the position.  It is not fair and not accurate to write him off as a bust.

For a little perspective, let's take a look at Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers, by pretty much all accounts, is  considered somewhere in the top 3 of all NFL QBs.  At this point in his career, Aaron has the highest career QB rating of all time.

But let me show you a couple statistics from the first two season of Aaron Rodgers' career:

2005 season: 39.8 QB rating, 0 total TDs

2006 season: 48.2 QB rating, 0 total TDs

Now let's look at the one season Tebow has played:

2010 season: 82.1 QB rating, 11 total TDs

And people want to write Tebow off as a bust?  Wow...

Now I realize that comparing Tebow to Rodgers isn't perfect, because of different styles, mechanics, and systems.  I'm not even trying to say that Tebow will one day be as good as Rodgers.

I have no idea how good Tebow will be later on in his career.  But neither does anyone else, and that's the point I'm trying to make.

To sum it all up, Tebow has played one year, and it was a pretty good year.

Where he goes from here, no one knows.

So stop calling him a bust!!!

How dare you try to compare Tebow to Rodgers? Are you out of your mind?? Have you ever watched a single freaking game of football? Rodgers is the greatest QB to ever play in the NFL!

Signed,

Packer homers and bandwagon fans.

Tebow will get his shot. I think the real question is if all the tinkering with his mechanics, has already sh(t-canned any chances he might have had...or doomed him mentally from the get-go.

I'm not on Tebow's jock. I just hate when players make the move the NFL, and never even get a chance...because some coach (or worse, NFL pundit) tells them a random mechanic, that said player, has been schooling kids with (probably, for the last 20 yrs)...won't work in the NFL.

This is often correct, I know. But - I also think that this "stubborn/good ole' boy network" mentality also leads to stale thinking - or as I like to call it - the Wade Phillips 3-4 Defense.

Someone desperate (Washington/Miami/Seattle?) needs to just pick him up off of Denver's trash pile - and cut him loose on the football field. See if he can do, what it is, that got him this far. For better, or worse.

It's the only way the Tebow (NFL) mystery will ever be solved.

(Sorry for the long diatribe...in your space, MF...but I feel better, now.)

QUOTE(#5):

I'm not sure comparing Tebow to Rodgers makes much sense.Rodgers couldn't get on the field - and when he did it was in spot duty where he threw 31 passes in 2 years - because of a future HoF'er...Tebow can't get on the field because of Kyle Orton.

Kyle Orton's beard is a bust.

I still think Rodgers is a bust..

A guy naned Steve Young had similiar experiences in SF. He didn't turn out to be a bust.

The difference with Rodgers and Tebow is that Rodgers spent the off seasons working on getting better and not promoting a book and cutting commercials. Now I don't blame a guy for grabbing the cash when its there but why didn't he hire a QB guru like Quinn did this off season to work on his game. All this talk of hard work and dedication seems to be just talk.

The problem with Tebow is that he isn't picking up the offense. After two years [Same OC this year as last] he still doesn't understand where to go with the ball. His mechanics are no better than they where last year.

Is it too soon to call him a bust? Probably but since he is being pushed by a 4th stringer and isn't showing improvement in any area its hard to find a reason why he won't become one.

In Green Bay the Packers had enough confidence in Rodgers that they didn't carry any other back ups and invested their time with him. Denver seems very reluctant to do that and that is telling.

I agree, but still, calling Tim Tebow a bust isn't half as ridiculous or preposterous as calling Josh Johnson one of the best pitchers in baseball. Now that is some ridiculous ****!
