today the jets came to foxboro for a week 1 re-match with the undefeated new england patriots.
there was some kind of tension in the air, that just might have been the weather, but who knows? it wasnt the game that me and my associates at work were expecting, but the weather did play a factor. when its freezing cold outside with freezing rain and snow and all that fun stuff including the winds, it can be hard. it just seemed like a very lopsided game for both...well for the pats at least.
the jets did not allow the pats to score on there opening drive which many teams have had a hard time doing, which was good on the jets part. but then to turn around and get your starting QB injured on the opening drive and throw a pick for a touchdown is kind of puting lemon juice on a cut. it stings a little!
at that point i am pretty sure most fans around NE and also the other fans around the country were thinking this was going to be a one sided game. not so much. the pats were able to win with ease like usual, but it wasnt the best performance we have seen.
the jets could have gotten beaten down much worse. the jets had to use pretty much all of the QB's just to get something going. Pennington should have stuck to baseball and the other guy....not important enough to remember his name, should have kept running the ball...but then the pats defense figured him out as well. the jets were basically screwed.
i think the hand shake between belichick and mangini should have been bill giving a camera to mangini and telling him that he could tape our signals again, because they need all the help they can get. but it wasnt that fun. instead bill gave the worst comment another coach wants to hear after getting beat down by your old "co-worker"..."it was a good game" oohhh, that had to hurt. you know mangini died a little on the inside after that one.
oh well jets, maybe next year.....or someother year, like after brady and co. retire.
