Why did you betray me, Browns management? Why, oh why, didn't you take Troy Smith in the draft instead of Brady Quinn? It could have been so easy-- no season-long holdout. No trying to figure out who to cut so you could pay someone to sit on the bench. Now, in addition to all that, I find myself cheering for a team that I hate.
I wanted the Dolphins to remain winless for one more week. I checked [shudder] Ravens' stats page. And if this keeps up, I may even start to question why I thought that he-who-shall-not-be-named was such a bad guy...
And I blame you for all this, Cleveland management. Thank you for making my life miserable.

Come on... The Brownies were starting the year with Frye and some kid we got from the Ravens. They needed someone like Quinn to lead the team like Kosar did in our past. But, this kid from Baltimore turned out to be D.A., one of the best QB's that the NFL has this year. So, what is your problem? We have a splendid dilemma; two amazing QB's with room in our salary cap for them both. All good teams must have a decent second string QB. Face it, the Browns are not playing like the league's door mat anymore. For us loyal fans that have loved them through the bad years, here we are. Enjoy our little problem. And P.S., I still hate the Grinch who stole Cleveland. If you think he was right, you must not be a fan. Do you remember what he did to Cleveland for all those years. Cutting the players, disrespecting the fans, years without a team, making the Browns a joke. Not a bad guy, man, shut up. I bet you were one of the guys that followed Baltimore after the move, only to come back to the Browns when we got the team back. Do you have a soul?

He held out for so long that he missed all but one week of training camp. That, in effect, was season-long...

A couple of things:
- I'm not a guy...
- My heart and soul belongs to my alma mater and its alumni first; my NFL allegiances come second. The Heisman winner from last year (who wanted to go home and make a difference in his community) is not chopped liver on the field... and probably would have come with less drama and a cheaper price tag, leaving even MORE room for the Browns to improve their personnel.
- I HATE that this is even an issue for me. The fact that Ozzie joined the Dark Side makes me want to vomit. I was willing to put in money for the hit on he-who-shall-not-be-named at the first game between the Old Browns and the New Browns. I can still sing the Browns' 12 Days of Christmas, which includes the line "... and a Sam Rutigliano Super Bowl Team." Don't doubt my loyalty.
Believe me, this is not an easy thing for me to do. My father would have a conniption if he heard me talking like this. He has hated he-who-shall-not-be-named since he fired Paul Brown... But the fact is, I love Troy Smith. Love. He has done pretty amazing things: overcome adversity in youth, make amends for mistakes made as a young Buckeye, grow and develop as a player and a leader, lead off the field, get a degree, and go on to the NFL. I'm having a REALLY hard time abandoning Troy simply because Satan's footman was smart enough to pick him up... I am in hell.
