Week 15 NFL BCS Rankings -- Shakeup in the Top Ten

Don't forget: These rankings are based on a computer formula. So spare me the sob stories about how I'm a homer for the Steelers and I have the Browns too low because I hate them.

1)      (1)      Patriots            (.9307)

2)      (2)      Colts               (.8007)

3)      (5)      Packers            (.7177)

4)      (3)      Steelers           (.7098)

5)      (4)      Cowboys          (.7077)

The same top 5 as last week in a slightly different order. Despite the Pats and Colts struggles, they remain the top two. The Pack dominated so they jump up over the Steelers and Cowboys who suffered tough losses. The Steelers stay ahead of the Boys most likely because of the quality of loss. The Jags are a much much MUCH better team than the Eagles, and the Steelers had that thing tied up with 5 minutes left.

6)      (7)      Buccaneers       (.6493)

7)      (8)      Jaguars            (.6112)

8)      (6)      Seahawks         (.5924)

9)      (10)     Chargers          (.5498)

10)     (11)    Vikings             (.5362)

The rest of the top ten are who I consider the other contenders. The Vikings are going to have to work out some quarterback issues if they want to go far in the playoffs. And even if they do work Tavaris Jackson out, they're never going to be able to survive an outdoor game in January unless it's at Tampa Bay or Dallas. I'll never understand the logic behind having a dome in pro football. The Seahawks took a bad loss to the Panthers which merely confirmed my suspicion that they were frauds. And the Jags are scary at the moment. They could pull a major upset in the playoffs.

11)     (9)      Giants             (.5345)

12)     (12)     Eagles            (.5211)

13)     (13)     Titans            (.5061)

14)     (14)     Redskins         (.4804)

15)     (15)     Saints            (.4588)

16)     (16)     Texans           (.4521)

17)     (20)     Browns           (.4009)

I can't wait to see the Giants get bounced in the first round of the playoffs. The Eagles earned their 12 spot this week by taking down the Cowboys in Dallas. The Titans need to help me out and lose this week so I can at least rest easy knowing the Steelers are going to get into the playoffs in some capacity because at this rate they're not going to win the AFC North. And for the Browns fans out there, I'm sorry, but your team still has no defense. I'll put it to you like this: you pitched a shutout this weekend and you're still the last ranked defense in the league. Any questions?

18)     (17)     Cardinals         (.3941)

19)     (19)     Bengals           (.3816)

20)     (18)     Broncos          (.3775)

21)     (23)     Panthers         (.3532)

22)     (21)     Ravens           (.3478)

23)     (25)     Raiders           (.3079)

24)     (22)     Bears             (.3061)

25)     (26)     Bills                (.3014)

I can't believe the Ravens didn't drop further. That was the worst loss I've ever seen. That team is a disaster and I couldn't be happier about it. Same with the Bengals. They totally punted in San Francisco Saturday night but didn't drop at all. Perhaps the computer is getting tired after a long season. Rex Grossman is getting his vindication in Chicago as the Bears stink no matter who is throwing the ball. Oh, and the Raiders need to be starting JaMarcus Russel. Now.

26)     (27)     Chiefs            (.2951)

27)     (24)     Lions              (.2676)

28)     (28)     Rams             (.2599)

29)     (29)     Jets               (.2587)

30)     (30)     Falcons          (.2173)

31)     (31)     49ers             (.2007)

32)     (32)     Dolphins         (.1906)

Despite getting their first win of the season, the Dolphins don't get any BCS love. And the Niners remain in 31st despite knocking off the Bengals. The Jets fought hard at New England, but close doesnt count in the NFL BCS rankings. And the Lions continue their freefall in the NFC and in the NFL BCS as they lose three more spots this week.
