The Phoenix Suns were defeated by the San Antonio Spurs 111-106 today. I'll give you a good reason they lost and a great acting job by a Spur:
1. Steve Nash left the game with a bleeding nose and couldn't return until the bleeding stopped. They were having trouble stopping it and Leandro Barbosa was leading the team. With 36 seconds left and Phoenix down by two Barbosa fouled a San Antonio player. He went to the line and made both free throws putting the lead to 4. The Suns were never able to come back from that and ended up losing by 6. This was a result of Nash not being in the game.
2. On an inbounds play for San Antonio during the last 30 seconds they were having trouble getting the ball in. There was a little bit of minor contact between Tony Parker and Leandro Barbosa. Parker fell to the ground the refs bailed him out with an off the ball foul meaning 1 free thrown to whomever they wanted (Michael Finley; he made it) and the Spurs received the ball back. Coach D'Antoni was furious and even the announcers admitted that it was a terrible call and Parker just fell trying to get the call.
Also, in the last 30 seconds Amare Stoudemire was fouled by Tim Duncan going up for a layup. The result: a no-call.
Game 2 is Tuesday night in Phoenix again.
