Today, MLB Commissioner Bud Selig defended MLB's drug testing program in the wake of the Mitchell Report. He actually stated that he was "proud of where we are."

In the days since the release of the Mitchell Report, the standard dodge for players named in the Mitchell Report has been to say that they only did it once...or twice...and/or were recovering from injury (if they are saying anything at all). I guess this is kind of like "I didn't inhale...not really."

Bud...this is where MLB is right now...and Congress is on deck, waiting to hold hearings on the Mitchell Report.

Did anyone notice that on the day that the Mitchell Report was made public, Bud Selig admitted at his press conference that he hadn't even READ the Mitchell Report even though it had been given to him in advance? He was "briefed" on it. And this is the guy who is going to clean up MLB? You gotta be kidding me.

MLB won't regain any real credibility regarding performance enhancing drugs until Bud Selig resigns. As Commissioner of MLB, he had the power to act to protect the integrity of the game and failed to use it. He and the owners turned a blind eye to this issue, marketed the exploits of suspected PED users and were willing to continue to do so until Congress jumped all over him. His idea of showing his disapproval of Barry Bonds during his home run chase after Henry Aaron's record was to attend Barry's games, stand whenever Barry hit a home run and not applaud. That's some firm stand there, Bud!

And now he has the nerve to take credit for doing something that the Mitchell Report clearly documents was too little, too late?

Bud, Bud, Bud!

The least that you could have done is not say that you are "proud of where we are."

Bud, please act to protect the integrity of the game and resign. You have no backbone and even less credibility.
