I have to say...all this crap about the Mitchell Report is total bull. Suddenly every sports writer has become sanctimonious and thinks every player who ever took steroids should have their professional and personal lives ruined, their names smeared and their existence in MLB completely wiped out of the record books as if they never even played the game.

You all should stop acting like you are so self-righteous. I for one don't care if they took steroids! Juice or no juice, Clemens, Bonds, Giambi and the whole lot of them are still superior athletes.  Steroids doesn't improve your hand-eye coordination for hitting the ball.  In fact the bulked up pecs and biceps would probably slow your swing. Maybe I'm reaching on that one.  I'm not naïve though...I'll be the first to admit it likely improved their strength and their longevity...but come on, it is BASEBALL.  I for one don't care if they took juice or not.  They had incredible careers and were incredibly entertaining.  Isn't that what we ALL wanted?  To be entertained by superior athletes?  Let's not bash them, simply because we didn't have the talent to be pro athletes ourselves and we are sour that they cheated.

You can put an asterisk next to every one of their achievements, but in my mind Bonds will be the reigning Home Run King until somebody surpasses him.  Clemens will remain the 7 time Cy Young winner.  And all the rest of the juice heads will go down as the super stars that they were.  Think about it...without the superstars, watching an MLB game would be like watching Little League.  Who wants to see a bunch of average players run around the field?  Not me.  Not you.  Not a single fan.

One final thought on this topic...I'm so sick of the NFL touting their "air tight drug policy", as if they are all so innocent.  The big difference in the NFL is that the juicers know how to avoid getting caught.  Come on...look at the size of football players compared to baseball players.  I guarantee you that over 90% of the players in the NFL have done or are still doing steroids.  I'm sorry, but 30 inch biceps are NOT natural.

As long as we the fans pay to watch superior professional athletes...As long as the superstars get $25 million per year contacts...As long as steroids make players stronger and able to extend their careers...steroids will ALWAYS be a part of the game.  We built the superstars up.  Let's not tear them down for something they did as part of the big ugly professional sports machine.

Preaching to the choir buddy. I agree completely. Thanks for chiming in on my rant :)
