Its such a shame that with one of the most magical teams ever, the 07 Patriots, are nearing the end of their pursuit of perfection, and everyone is mad at them and unhappy this is happening. Why? Everyone loves the 72 Dolphins, the only other team to pull the feat, even though there players were just as lovable as this years Pats. Why, again?

Lets break this down. There QB, Tom Brady, is about the 3rd most beloved American right now by the media (behind Morgan Freeman and Ellen DeGeneres), and no one ever has anything bad to say about "The Golden Boy". The running back, Laurence Maroney, is quietly becoming a strong player. Randy Moss and Wes Welker are consider the second comings of Jim Thorpe, and the rest of the line is extremely respected for how they play the game. How can one coach who is for some reason despised by everyone just because he's a fantastic coach and better than them. Suck it up, America.

So 30 years from now, will look back at this team like we do to the 72 Dolphins, beloved and incredibly respected. And I'll yell at everyone saying "HYPOCRITES! WHERE WERE YOU WHEN IT HAPPEND! ALL YOU DID WAS HATE THEM!" It's a shame that this great team is being torn down by all those naysayers everywhere.

(Editors Note: I am in no way a Patriots fan. I am a die hard Browns fan and, against the Patriots, I would definitley root for the Dawgs.)

One of the reason no one respects the Pats is because they've been caught cheating twice and their coach is a acehole for pushing reporters and cameramen like he's God and everyone else are nothing.

-Not sure which '72 Dolphins you're talking about, a lot of people don't like them (especially because of how they root against undefeated teams). Remember the Don Shula backlash this year?

-Tom Brady is loved by the media, but the fans are not the media, are they?

-Because Maroney is "developing into a strong player", I should like the Pats?

-Again, them being good doesn't mean I should like them.

-We dislike Belichick because he's good? No thanks...he's a scummy guy, that's why I dislike him. He has some dumb feud with Mangini, he knocks down cameramen, cheats on his wife, signs with the Jets as their coach and then quits to go to the Pats at the Jets press conference to announce his hiring, spies on opponents (and breaks the NFL rules), runs up the score, and is an overall arrogant jerk.

You know, I'm surprised you, as a Browns fan, would like him. When he was your HC, he benched your beloved Bernie Kosar for Testaverde. It didn't make him popular.

You are telling us to love the Pats because they are good. Sorry, but I believe in free will. I can dislike them for many reasons. Sorry Fausto, stick to the pitching.

Okay, SORRY I think we should appreciate this team. I really am not forcing my opinion on you. Calm down.

Michael Silver at Yahoo! Sports wrote an excellent description of why people outside of NE hate the Pats:

Still, people do everything they want to see only what they want to see. Take the above user's list for hating Belichick:
-"He has some dumb feud with Mangini:" The feud with Mangini exists because Mangini tried to take away key Patriots personnel and players when he left, making him seem ungrateful to his mentor for over the past decade.
-"he knocks down cameramen:" Belichick knocks over a cameraman FOR THE PURPOSE of hugging Mangini; he later apologized for it
-"cheats on his wife" - a scummy thing to do for sure, but it's also personal and of course none of us really knows the situation; more of an extra excuse to hate Belichick
-"signs with the Jets as their coach and then quits to go to the Pats at the Jets press conference to announce his hiring:" Belichick was only supposed to become the head coach of the Jets because he was Parcells' protege and Parcells' had just retired partly (and maybe mostly) because he knew Bob Kraft had been courting Belichick for a while
-"spies on opponents (and breaks the NFL rules):" A perfectly legitimate reason to dislike Belichick, though redundant - the spying was the one NFL rule he broke; also, given that he's the one who's been caught, there is zero chance that he has been spying this season
-"runs up the score" - A matter of opinion over whether that's even an issue, though it should be noted those very same '72 Dolphins beat the Patriots 52-0.
-"is an overall arrogant jerk." - True. Makes him very unlikeable, although it doesn't make him a bad person (the difference between being "nice" and being "good").

Keep in mind, the most we really see from Belichick is the secretive guy at the press conferences. Rarely do you hear about the time he took charge at the site of a car accident to help the victims and then left quietly once the paramedics arrived to take things over.

However, everyone is entitled to hate who they want for whatever reason. I have lots of friends who hate Peyton Manning for no reason than because he exists. At the same time, all great teams were hated in their era. And it is in fact possible to appreciate greatness without liking the team.

People who hate the Patriots are like those guys who hated Justin Timberlake yet kept a burned CD in their car when no one was around. All you idiots pretend like Belichick is a bad guy.. really? I got more respect for him and what he has done than any other coach currently coaching in the national football league. I hope you all don't have this puss mentality in the REAL WORLD.. if you do, I have 1 thing to say to you. I'd like my burger medium rare. Start flipping.

ps. caught cheating twice?? when did 'we' get caught 'cheating' the first time?? I'll tell you what, post a quote from the commissioner and the word 'cheating', or keep your garbage, nonfactual statements to yourself.

pss. I despise using Justin Timberlake in a Patriots forum, however in this case, it was the best analogy that came to mind.

In terms of the pats running up the score, this is the NFL not some unfair match up between the Patriots and some crappy college team. If you don't want them to beat you, then stop them. I don't recall any uproar when the colts beat the saints in the first game this season 41-10 or when the had the following winning scores in 2004: 49-14, 41-10, 41-9, 51-24. Whenever a team does well, unless your a fan you'll probably hate them. It's just how it is.

THE HELL WITH ANYONE WHO HATES THE PATS!!!. since the past won thier first superbowl in 2001 the pats have been criticized for dumbass reasons year in and year out. first you guys hated on them for succeding with a sub par recieving corps now your hating on them cuz they got the best recieving corps in the league. for years the pats didnt spend crazy money on the hottest free agents and draft picks and you guys hated on them for succeeding doing things THE PATRIOT WAY. now that we got randy moss wes welker and adalius thomas through free agency were the bad guys HYPOCRITES!!!...lets not forget 2003 when the league created that rule that you couldnt put your hands on a reciever once he is 5 yards down field because the pats defense "played to rough" for the colts and they wouldnt stop bitchin oh yeah and we still won the superbowl the next season. this year is nothin different buts its ok, keep hatin because i know you wish your team was 14-0. hahaha : )
